matou: Can you provide the actual link to the above?

Thanks

It came from the TV station for CBC Newsworld.

That's fine but why drive there and come right back without doing whatever it is she was going to do? Where is the one hour time line coming from in the first place?

We're probably just overthinking the quote. It's a nice round number for a random drive. The original story was that she was just going for a drive, not out to do anything in particular.

If the friends are eager to support the husband, that explains - in part - why there is a no contact order between him and the friends.

Just my suspicion here, but I was told that a news agency originally published that it was 7 people he had a no contact order with, and then that article got changed to 'several' instead of '7'. It is standard operating procedure that an accused be told to not contact the immediate members of the victim's family, so I would think that would be 2 people. My other supposition, is that either the people HR and MR spent that evening with are the rest, or the people he originally informed that MR was missing, which would be many of the close friends people are talking about.

In that case, I would think that the police have already identified those people as possible witnesses, not necessarily to the crime but to the alleged cover up that followed, and those people would have told to have no contact with the accused and to not discuss the case, with media or anyone, especially other possible witnesses. That would explain the 'cone of silence'.

Hold on... The driving times people were throwing around on the last page (40-45min) are unrealistic. The speed limit is 80km/h, and having made this very drive numerous times I can tell you despite that most people would rather go 90-100km/h and as such it wouldn't be unrealistic to try to make the drive in 30 minutes or just over, especially in light night traffic where you're not likely to get stuck behind someone doing the actual speed-limit. Sure Google's numbers are possible, but they tend to overcompensate for traffic which doesn't exist at that time of day.

Continue...

Agreed.....I live in this area and there is no way it takes that long....I was thinking more like 30 minutes. I understand it's hard for people to believe someone would just "go for a drive to Ottawa", but I would hazard to say it's actually quite common. Not saying that's what happened that night, just that it is plausible.

LE is still looking for witnesses who may have seen something or have any information. CBCNEWSWORLD

Ok, I just heard that news clip as well.

Sounds to me like their case is not strong enough yet,

I know I`ve said it before, and others as well, but I still can’t grasp how a grief-striken husband -- Melissa "the love of his life, his rock” -- overcome by tears in his interview with CBC and “completely shattered", as per a very good friend of theirs, at the news that she had been discovered -- in a ravine, dead, with multiple stab wounds -- could write on his FB page two days later: “My Melissa has left this world ... But at the same time one close friend is getting married, another celebrates 25 years of marriage and yet another is about to give birth".

As in, “Hey, life goes on”… WTH...??

Been extremely busy the past few days, so haven't been able to post or catch up on here since my initial post, but did want to add something regarding the initial FB page for finding Melissa...

I used to be one of the members on that group, and saw many of the posts made after it was announced that Howard was arrested - at that moment, there were almost 2000 people who had "joined" that page, most of whom were basically curiosity-seekers (for lack of a better term) because a core group were posting their confirmations or denials about what was being posted in the media. When word broke of Howard's arrest, there WERE a number of nasty messages posted on that page, painting Howard as guilty before due-process and calling for his head (among other things) - yet the admin group were either at or en-route to the wake so no one was really "minding the store". The messages built up and when one admin caught wind (either having been called or catching up for one reason or another) messages started being culled.

It only took an hour between the time news broke and the nasty messages started for the page to change from "open" to "closed", then another 30 minutes to be changed again to "secret" and members being removed from the roster.

Rabinovitch was *the* main admin on this page, and had three supporting admins. It was announced before the page was closed down that a new very restrictive page dedicated to Melissa's memory would be established. On that page, only two of the four original admins were listed, with one (Rabinovitch) only having been "invited" but not yet an official admin.

I'd met both Howard and Melissa on several occasions, and while not *intimately* friendly with them, knew them well enough to not only be concerned but want to pay my respects on the new page as well, so tendered my request to join. After what seemed to be a job interview, I apparently didn't know them well enough to be granted access.

I, like anyone else who knew the couple, was shocked and angered when news broke about Howard's arrest and was one of the first to ask people on that group *not* to speculate until more information was available. Since that time (and my initial post here), my sense of "it couldn't be him - they've the wrong guy" has unfortunately waned.

I guess I really *didn't* know him well enough... but then again, with everything that's coming out, who really did besides Melissa?

I'm off again - gonna be a busy week - but wanted to drop in to post this, if it helps in any way.

Was anyone on the FB page when they said the media was giving out misinformation?
I read the page 3 times and still can't figure out what they were talking about.

They said on CBC news he was on suicide watch last night.

SCA membrs say Howard Richmond along w/ wife Melissa would also take on roles of "merchants" #ottnews #cbcott (more)

Anyone found any usernames or email addresses for the accused?

Lots of stuff online about the group.

I would think HR was involved with weapons online, his interest seems to run deep with those.

Is it "normal" to carry 7 knives while on duty with the military?

Might be a little more than meets the eye with the "House Addis" that Melissa and Howard belonged to.

Nobody is sworn to fidelity (save for LM), according to this website.

I do believe, that the House Addis is located in Chesterville, but, am not certain.

House Addis, also called House Addis North, is a household located in Harrowgate Heath.

House Addis is a Brotherhood of like-minded people who enjoy many aspects of the SCA. Though the founders were connected by heavy fighting, House Addis quickly evolved into a service-oriented household. However, it remains a diverse group, with members who are interested in many forms of martial arts as well as those more interested in the arts and sciences than in getting into armour.

The members of House Addis have not sworn fidelity to any one person, rather they promise to encourage and support each other as a band of brothers and sisters.

Tragedy

Lady Aevianna Nordenge went missing on 24 July 2013. Despite the widespread search effort by many SCAdians, coordinated by social media, her car was discovered shortly before her body was found on 28 July 2013.

Shortly thereafter, an impromptu shrine/memorial space for Aevianna was been created where her body was found.

A note from the moderators: Please place all memorial entries on the discussion page for this entry. This way they can be preserved in the long-term without disrupting the continuity of the Kingdom wiki.

She has demanded a code of silence from her followers. She has also spoken ill-willed toward the media and specific journalists, since Howard's arrest.

It's a bit odd, the hostility, towards those who tried to help find Melissa and her murderer.

Just because the accused murderer isn't to her liking, I might be reminded of her words to find the SOB that murdered Melissa, to paraphrase.

What exactly is going on here, anyway?

JMO

What you have written sends major warning signals to me. This spokesperson, the surrogate mother of Melissa, seems to have a lot of influence and is rather outspoken regarding how people should perceive events. I have to wonder how much influence she has had over the couple in the last 10 years.

I would even go so far as to ask whether anyone strongly encouraged the couple to borrow $435,000 to purchase a $370,000 house.

Exactly.

W.T.F.?

The whole thing is bizarre.

Some of them are accusing the media of spinning the tale of the crazy, murdering blah blah blah, for a storyline.

I am reminded of the old adage, truth is stranger than fiction. Brutal.

It's interesting that a professor of religious studies that specializes in "wicca and witches" is in the middle of this, and it's more interesting that this professor seems to lack the objective perspective that is mandatory in university teaching. Religious Studies profs are typically philosophers and theorists moreso than believers and advocates of a particular set of beliefs.

Something seems so wrong with this picture.
