''Montreal police are investigating after two bodies were found by a citizen inside a taxi today in the city’s east end.

Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant says a passerby made the discovery at about 5:25 a.m. and called police.

Police say the bodies had apparent stab wounds, but Brabant adds it’s too early to confirm the circumstances around the event and whether investigators are dealing with a double homicide or a murder-suicide.

Officers have set up a perimeter, and investigators and crime scene technicians are on their way to the scene in the St-Leonard district.

Police have yet to formally identify the two people found in the parked vehicle — a man in his 40s who was in the driver seat and a woman in her 40s in the passenger seat.''

''The victims, a 52-year-old man found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and a 40-year-old woman in the front passenger, both bore stab wounds and were declared dead at the scene.

By 8 a.m. police were going door to door in the residential neighbourhood in an effort to glean information on the incident. A spokesperson said Friday morning that all theories were being examined in connection with the deaths, be it murder followed by suicide or a double homicide, but stressed it was too soon to draw any conclusions.

Advocates urge action as Montreal police confirm taxi slaying was murder-suicide
''Montreal police are confirming the discovery of two bodies inside a taxi cab in Saint-Léonard on Friday morning was the result of conjugal violence.

Police said Saturday that investigators believe a 52-year-old man killed his 40-year-old wife before taking his own life.

Authorities say both people appear to have died from stab wounds to the upper body. The man was found in the driver’s seat and the woman was found by his side in the passenger’s seat.''

''Earlier in March Premier François Legault addressed the recent rise in femicides in Quebec, calling on men in the province to stop being violent with women.

The premier said he wanted to address the men of the province and tell them that violent behaviour toward women is “cowardly.”

I worried it would be murder-suicide. There has been an increase in taxi driver suicides in recent years, with the popularity of uber and lyfts eating into their taxi business. I don't know if that is what happened here, but it was my initial concern, though this is the first case I've heard where the violence was extended to a family member.
