“We are still appealing to the public, obviously, for any tips or any leads. And we're interviewing numerous people.”

He said police are also concerned for Nolan's well-being.

“According to the family, this is very out of character for him. Being not heard from for a couple days is one thing, but especially going over Christmas and the family not hearing anything from him and not having any contact, whether it be in person or any electronic means, is concerning for the family and it concerns us in turn,” he said.

Tim said his son had been involved in drugs, but was working on turning his life around.

“He has so much potential to be a successful part of society. He was just starting to turn a corner and we all had hope,” he said.

Zettel noted that while investigating the disappearance of someone who lived a “high-risk lifestyle,” such as one involving drugs, officers can sometimes encounter people who are worried about speaking with police.

“Even though we're simply asking about the missing person, there may be a heightened sense of awareness that we're trying to back-door to get some information on drugs and that's not the case. We're trying to get information on Nolan and trying to get him back to his family,” he said.

Panchyshyn, is Caucasian, 6"1', with a medium build, hazel eyes and short brown hair. He may wear glasses. He was known to wear a black bomber-style winter coat and hiking boots.

Grey County OPP issued a news release late Friday afternoon confirming that members of the West Region OPP Canine Unit, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, and OPP Unmanned Aerial Surveillance Unit were searching near the central Grey County community in relation to the continuing investigation of the disappearance of 20-year-old Nolan Panchyshyn.

Police are reminding the public that information of any kind, no matter how small, may assist in the investigation

Police are reissuing a call to the public for information about a Southampton man who has been missing for almost three months.

Panchyshyn is described as a white male, 6’1″ tall, with a medium build, hazel eyes and short brown hair.

Anyone with information regarding this man’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Saugeen Shores Police Service (519) 832-2500 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

There was significant police activity Thursday near Dornoch in Grey County as OPP on the ground and using unmanned aerial surveillance continued the search for Panchyshyn.

Police did not say what led them there.

Updated story: Man charged with murder dated to Dec. 13th in connection with the found body, which is still unidentified. Nolan was last seen Dec. 12th. Another man charged with a lesser crime pertaining to this incident as well.

Very sad outcome .

As a result of the police investigation, two men are facing criminal charges:

Forty-six-year old Dwayne HAMMOND of Chatsworth Township has been charged with:

Second degree murder, contrary to section 229 of the Criminal Code (CC)
Indignity to a dead body, contrary to section 182(2) of the CC
Possession of a weapon while prohibited, contrary to section 117.01(1) CC

Twenty-two-year old David BEATTIE of Chatsworth Township has been charged with:

Indignity to a dead body, contrary to section 182(2) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Fail to comply with probation, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC

The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on April 6, 2018 to answer to the charges. This case is subject to a court ordered publication ban.

Police found Nolan Panchyshyn’s remains Saturday near Dornoch, after searching for him in that area the previous week. But it was only after an autopsy that police could positively identify the young man.

Police broke the news to Nolan’s father Thursday and issued a news release Friday which identified the 20-year-old as the victim of murder.
