Autopsies have been performed but the cause of death of the girls will not be revealed until Carpenter is found.

Quebec police suspend ground search for father whose daughters were found dead

From your link as well -
“But there's been no signs of Carpentier, 44, the suspect investigators have identified as key to understanding what happened to the young sisters.”

If there was clear evidence both girls were murdered, I would’ve expected murder charges would’ve been laid by now and MC would be sought with an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Instead it appears as if he’s wanted for questioning regarding his daughters’ deaths.

I’m not sure what to make of that. Just speculating, there could be doubt over how their injuries were caused (for example - severe head trauma - car accident or inflicted by MC?).....or even if the autopsy deemed homicides occurred, LE believes there’s a strong likelihood MCs already dead, or will be, so regardless there’ll be no arrest.

Good post.

I’ll just add that criminal charges, whatever they might be don’t usually/often happen “in absentia” here. Even a warrant for arrest on suspicion of endangerment/whatever could be pushing it at the moment.

ETA: There could be an arrest warrant issued, but they aren’t always publicized (widely) here. I can think of a couple of “suspected of...” things that might be relevant, but they wouldn’t help find him :(.

It looks like this might be just the next police step based on probabilities that he is still out there in the woods.

Looks like you were right.

It took quite a few days to find those two guys last summer in northern....Manitoba? He could still be out there and no longer alive.

I was reminded of the similarity as well and that same case was also mentioned in this media report.

“German said it is "not unlike what we saw last summer" with the nation-wide manhunt for B.C. murder suspects Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod.

"So many tips are coming in, they've got 1,000 tips -- I referred to it last summer as 'tips on steroids.' Most of those tips will lead nowhere but the police do have to chase those down and you never know, one of those thousand tips might actually lead to something," German explained...”
Father wanted in daughters' deaths 'probably dead' if he hasn't left the woods, expert says

“Body of Martin Carpentier found | "I am a little flabbergasted to learn it," said the mayor of Saint-Apollinaire. “People will be able to sleep more in peace,” adds Bernard Ouellet, who is unaware of precisely the place where the body was found. #rcqc

I expected this outcome but don’t understand why he didn’t chose to die where his daughters were found.

What happened?

Coward. Like the others who murder. Then can’t face the punishment.

I don't know how to feel.
I'm glad he's been found dead as his ex-wife won't have to sit through a trial and suffer. But she also doesn't get to look him in the eye and have him suffer.

I also feel for his recent significant other. She seemed completely devastated when she spoke through the media, begging him to let them know if he was alright and turn himself in. I believe she was completely blindsided.

I’m relieved he’s been found.

Other than that, I’m with @Snoopster : I’m not sure what or how I feel and I’m only a stranger following.

I can’t imagine what Amelie and family (in the widest sense, including his SO) are feeling.

RBBM: We don’t know that he wasn’t nearby, I don’t think?

Le corps de Martin Carpentier retrouvé

The video report mentions the exact address where he was found (by the owner), which I’m not comfortable repeating, but it’s in the original search area, on rang St-Lazare not far from where Norah & Romy were found.

The reporter says she’s “heard” he hung himself, behind the garage. No official confirmation on that.

Police find body believed to be Martin Carpentier

Body believed to be Martin Carpentier found in Saint-Apollinaire, SQ says | Montreal Gazette
''The body was reportedly found on the grounds of a private residence, near an area where police had carried out several searches, according to a neighbour who preferred to remain anonymous.

“The searches were very intense, but there are so many places to hide in the area — abandoned huts, hunting camps, shelters,” the neighbour told Presse Canadienne. “There are plenty of places where he could eat or drink, maybe he had a drink in the small stream behind.”

He reported an intense rotting smell in the last few hours near where the body was found.

“I passed there yesterday, there was a smell of dead animals and it struck me, but odours of dead animals in the area are frequent,” the man added.''
