Canada - Poss foul play after one man found deceased following single vehicle collision in Langford

This is an odd story in my local news today. A single vehicle collision with one deceased us being treated as a homicide.

"We responded to a complaint of a collision, and then we got there, and we knew this was different."

JMO, this could be an open and shut case once an arrest is made, but it is very seldom this area has any vehicle-related homicides, and I thought that made it interesting.

Sounds like some sort of staged accident perhaps? They don’t say the victim was killed in the crash.

Humpback Road is a pretty crazy and remote road. Not many houses for most of it.

I had the same thought. There is also no details regarding where in the vehicle the victim was found. He may not have been the driver.

I cannot find anything specific on BC's penalties, but it is my understanding that failure to remain at or return to the scene of an accident can result in upgraded charges if there are injuries or fatalities. That could be enough for the RCMP to flag it a homicide so soon.

Local media interview with the woman that made the 911 call.

"Kennedy said she saw a fire truck, ambulance and police respond to the scene. She said one of the paramedics peered into the vehicle and then recommended she and her boyfriend should get going. At the time, she didn’t know if there was anyone in the vehicle, let alone that it would turn into a homicide investigation."

We often miss how some of these cases play out.

The guilty verdict relied on a video taken by a key Crown witness that captured Medwedrich speaking on the phone after the shooting.

In the video, Medwedrich said, “I did it, and then he [expletive] crashed the tree, crashed the car into the tree,” and, “I didn’t get any money out of him, but like, yo, it’s done. Done. Done.”
