"Friends describe him as a momma’s boy who lived with his mother Mae and shocked them all when he suddenly married Junio several years ago."

"They say Ermacora told them Junio had ended their marriage after accusing him of using cocaine. “They were in the middle of a divorce and as far as I knew he told me she was taking everything from him and he was upset about that,” Casciato told reporters outside the courthouse. “He was crying, he was upset that she was taking everything. He didn’t know how to deal with it.”
Katty Arseneault admits she never spoke to Ermacora about Junio, but that didn’t stop her from telling the media that she’d heard from friends that he was angry his estranged wife was running up his credit cards and putting him deeply in debt. He was also upset, she said, because Junio had sponsored her family in the Phillipines to come live here".

This is not the way you’d imagine a man would behave after his charges have just been upgraded to first-degree murder.

Yet McDermid Ermacora was all smiles behind the plexiglass prisoner’s box Wednesday, showing off his leg shackles to his friends and offering them a thumbs up sign, even happily chatting with his fellow prisoners — all despite learning that morning that Peel police have now charged him with killing his estranged wife.

What a mystery is this gregarious balding man in the loose white prison-issue T-shirt who was so bubbly that he had to be cautioned by the justice of the peace to stop trying to talk to his friends in the body of the court.

He just laughed and shrugged.

His twin brother is a respected Toronto detective, his father, a retired cop as well.

Certainly sounds like he's not taking this very seriously.
