I can't see Rori willfully going to this guy for food, shelter, money, etc etc. JMO

Adam Strong went "magnet fishing" as per his fb. He posted on September 14th about it and posted a bobby pin. I don't think the pin belongs to Rori. He does place himself somewhere where people use a metal detector or magnet, so likely the beach. I wonder if he went to the beach with his magnet thingy to pick up any potential evidence he left behind?

The bobby pin - the colour makes me think it had been in water for at least awhile. It had a green tone to it that wouldn't have probably if someone had worn it within the last few days. Maybe it was from his sink or toilet? Who knows...

Yeah, I'm with you on this. I think if it was just bystander photos, it would be similar to the CB situation. The fact that in Rori's case, police made these statements, were investigating this aspect, and asking for assistance, suggests there's much more to it.

Its entirely possible that LE received some information that suggested there were photos of this crime before the torso was found. We have no idea what they knew or when they came to know it or even if or how they might have known. But the way the police worded that request made me really think they might have been playing cat and mouse. They may even have seen the photos on a gore site (eg: best gore, which AS was known to visit), before the torso was discovered floating in the lake.

Has anyone on this board actually seen the torso photos to which the police referred? If so, what would your estimate be as far as: were they taken in daylight hours, or close to dark hours?

Upthread another WSer mentioned that it was quite dark at the time the police arrived. So I am wondering if the torso photos were taken in daylight hours or in close to dark hours. That might give a clue as to the timing that the photos were taken, and from that discovery the police might be able to figure out which date they were taken and perhaps by whom they were taken. I wonder how many people were at the lake observing while the police were removing the torso from the water?

Thanks for helping to articulate my thoughts - you were more succinct and clear than I was. But that is exactly what i was saying. We also do not know if police or the fisherman pulled the torso out of the water. Either is possible. Both make a difference. If he was able to see with his eyes in the light available, then its possible a photo could have been taken and shared, I'm not sure. I just know I myself wouldn't shoot that time of day in available light without external lighting (flash or battery operated lights)... The photos would be dark, shadowy and grainy. So when exactly were the supposed photos taken and where? I am doubting they were taken when the remains were pulled. Police would probably have cleared the area pretty fast as part of a crime scene. Even with CB, they had police tape up and photos from bystanders were from a distance.

What makes people so sure it was Justin Payne the creep hunter, instead of another guy named Justin Payne? I'm asking because I saw that AS had a friend on his fb list named "Justin Payne" but I didn't think it was the same guy who is the known creep hunter... I won't say what made me think not as its not confirmed in media reports and I won't spread any rumours, but are y'all sure its the creep hunter? Pls advise.

I think he did use his magnet thingy at the beach sometime right after Rori's torso was found. I think he wanted to see what was going on in terms of the investigation. He said in his posts he wanted to see a shark, fly his kite, look in a sunken ruin while scuba diving. He seemed to want to hang at the beach. So what was he really doing? Checking out who was there? Photographing people?

Taking the bus in Oshawa takes forever and the chances of someone noticing this hulking guy with scuba gear and large bags would be too risky. I even think the bus driver would remember him. I think he got to the lake via a friend, a cab or his bicycle. How did he get her out in the lake? She wasn't very far from shore from what I remember.

You need to go through AS's likes on photos, posts, comments etc.

Well, I have been down at that same beach with my metal detector along the beach and there have *always* been bystanders who stop me to chat about what I'm doing, or ask me what I've found or what I'm hoping to find. Even the life guard took notice of me as I passed her station a few times. This was probably around end of August. If he was along the beach with the metal detector, I'm guessing there are people who would possibly remember having seen him. I hope they call police to advise if they do happen to recognize and remember the occurrence. Be interesting to track his movements from just before she disappeared to when her remains were discovered all the way up to his arrest.

I was thinking the same. I would check but my browser history is already incriminating. :jail: LOL

Just jumping off your post...

Wouldn't "magnet fishing" be more like dragging a large magnet through the lake floor to see what metal it picks up as opposed to using a metal detector on the shore or near the shore? I think he was dragging the lake while out on the lake. Question is, how did he get out on the lake if that is the case?

I'm not clear on which it was or if there is a difference. Some have said metal detecting which made me think beach, but you raise a valid point. As a diver, and given the state of the bobby pin in question, you might be more accurate to say magnet fishing... its a new term for me, so not sure.

Sounds like he was trying to craft an alibi. Or more likely, sharing another "souvenir."

Im familiar with magnet fishing as I checked out some youtube treasure hunters that found interesting things with that method.

How it is done is by having a very strong and usually a special type of magnet and just tied to a string or strong thin rope. Then its tossed or lowered down usually into a body of water. But it can be done anywhere where it is hard to reach something like down a sewer or something along those lines.

People that do it can pick up anything that is magnetic which is usually some metal object.

So he could have done it right from the pier and tossed it out and dragged it back along the bottom. Or just lowered it down straight off the pier if he suspected something below the pier. There is a pier nearby but not sure how close the pier was to where torso was found.

Here is a good video that explains and shows how magnet fishing is done. It sounds like a really fun hobby.

I'm very confused. I was following a thread about Adam Strong and what was discovered in his basement and I can't find that thread and this one came up. Have the threads been merged? Has Rori been identified as the body in his basement apartment?

This is the thread. There were three threads originally on here. There was one for Rori, one for the torso found in the lake and one for Adam Strong's arrest r.e. the female body and suspicious package that was detonated. Everything is combined in one thread now. Rori is who was identified from Adam Strong's basement apartment.
