I have been thinking about this.. the whole lack of .. anything at all, it seems in this case! Ever since really, she was reported missing via the family's press conference. The family said at that time that they did not suspect foul play, and there was, and has been, no evidence of any foul play. SB is an adult. So what is LE really supposed to go on? How much of their resources are they going to expend on a case such as this where an adult goes missing.. no signs of anything sinister.. family expects her to return.. ? Then ... perhaps add into the mix the career of the missing (perhaps a lot of moving around for gigs, a lot more contacts than perhaps a different career, perhaps a career with more than its fair share of participants with vices?).. add in some possible marital discord which perhaps could conceivably result in wanting some time out.. also perhaps add into the mix some other things which have been uncovered along the way in regard to lifestyle..
I'm wondering really, how much money and manpower can LE realistically expend in a case like this? I am not bashing either LE, or SB.. we all saw how quickly LE checked out the 'Fish Creek Park' photos.. they are ready and willing, obviously, to JUMP on whatever tangible piece of potential evidence may pop up. But it seems there just isn't much of that in this case, at least not that we're hearing about. And even as far as investigating the obvious, how far are LE going to go if everything seems 'normal' at home and with family and friends? They can't go treating someone like a criminal if there is no evidence that something sinister occurred.
I have been also following a case here in Ontario where an adult man went missing.. there seemed to be a little more in the way of clues, because the man went missing from a job site (he was a self employed contractor), in the middle of the afternoon, and was never seen nor heard from again. Left behind a toddler and a wife, plus 2 adult children whom he spoke to apparently every day in his home country by telephone, which apparently ended on the day the man went missing. Several days later, his truck was discovered in a back parking lot, and CCTV showed its arrival, and a man (not him apparently), running from the truck. I was SHOCKED when I read that LE stated 'they had even gone SO far as to check the man's social media'... as if this was some big to-do. I would have expected that doing such a thing would be a matter of standard course in a missing person's investigation. LE has made no headway with this case even though they are now saying they suspect foul play.
And then when we look back to the Dellen Millard cases, the missing girl, Laura Babcok.. when she was reported missing initially, it seems LE did little to try to find her. Some look upon that as shoddy police work, and that if that case had been given more resources, it could have potentially prevented two more murders.. but when I think about it... if there is no indication of foul play, and the missing person is an adult, where does that leave LE? There are SO many cases of missing people it seems, and how many of those are found eventually, having left on their own accord? How are LE to decide which cases merit spending huge bucks on searches, and which cases do not? To me, there has to be some kind of evidence to suggest foul play, for LE to decide to allocate large resources to a missing person's case.
The weird thing, to me, is that the family, friends, and associates of SB aren't doing more in the way of their own searches, and social media blitzes... posters, etc.
