(UPDATE: Nov 4 @ 3:00 pm) - Kamloops RCMP are still searching for clues as the investigation continues into the suspicious disappearance of Shannon White.

After her black Jeep was located, a pink flower that typically sits above her spare tire was no longer there.

“For Shannon to have missed work and not be in contact with friends and family, is completely out of character for her,” said Corporal Dave Marshall, Kamloops RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.

“Currently, we believe she departed her Lower Sahali residence in her Jeep around 8 am on Monday Nov. 1,” added Cpl. Marshall. “Shannon was supposed to be at her job at Kamloops Hyundai on Notre Dame at 8:30 am, but she did not arrive. We later located her Jeep parked on Nicola Street near 3rd Avenue on Nov. 2.”

It has been four days since a Kamloops woman, Shannon White, went missing, allegedly on her way to work Monday morning, Nov.1.

Some in her circle of friends in Kamloops said they are feeling sick with worry as time goes by and no answers have been found yet as to White’s whereabouts.

Friend and co-worker, Elyse Nelson, hopes the public have checked their dash cameras for clues.

“Her route to work usually goes through one of the two main intersections in Sahali, Notre Dame and Columbia or McGill depending if she stops to get coffee,” Nelson said. “If anyone was at those intersections right after 8 a.m. they may have seen something or got something on their cameras.”

Nelson said White is very social and active on social media and has not been online since Monday.

“She did make a Facebook story Sunday night which I saw, but those disappear after 24 hours,” she said.

Nelson said she and White bonded at the end of 2018 when they were both adapting after their long-term relations ended.

“Her personality was really starting to come out this last year and she is fiercely independent and strong,” she said. “She was really happy. She is definitely not a victim type. She is the type who would stop to help someone stranded on the side of the road, but she’s smart about it too and wouldn’t put herself in an unsafe situation.”

Nelson and her friends with put up MISSING posters of White around the city Wednesday night.

“I felt scared,” she said. “Especially downtown because at this point we just have come to the conclusion that if her Jeep was found downtown it was probably not her that put it there.”

Since the jeep is pretty much all we have to go on, let's explore all the possibilities as to how it ended up on Nicola Ave near 3rd Ave.

1. It was driven there by Shannon. Seems unlikely as it is a good distance past her work. There is a hospital one block away. Could she have checked herself in a Psych unit? Or she met someone there. Maybe an online date meetup before work? Seems like not enough time for that.
2. The jeep was driven by an abductor with Shannon inside. Again unlikely, as LE would have canvassed the neighborhood and have a suspect by now. This assumes that any foul play would have occurred nearby.
3. Shannon was abducted at home or carjacked on the way to work and the abductor dumps the jeep on that street corner. What makes this attractive is there is a bus line on 3rd Ave with a stop a block away from Nicola. Also the jeep wasn't found until a few days later.

I vote for #3, but of course this is pure speculation and MOO
Of course hopefully there was no abduction or foul play and Shannon is found alive.

I would opt for #1 at this point.

I too would opt for number 3 at the moment! However, if foul play is involved, the suspect must have known the vehicle would be found fairly quickly where it was parked! Didn’t buy a lot of time, and rcmp will comb the Jeep for evidence of a person other than Shannon! Why leave it there, and not burned out on some forest service road to rid any potential evidence! Just my honest opinion! Hopefully she is found alive and safe!

Then add the landlord witnessing the jeep leaving her residence at 8:00, it adds to the plausibility that she was driving! Not only that but the term “landlord” sounds like she is renting a home or basement suite not an apartment! If so the landlord likely would have also heard or noticed anything unusual like an argument or having someone over or something! Just my opinion!

Sounding more like option 1 now!

I opt for number 1. Mainly because she made some cryptic comments on SM and that the area of Nicola St has the Royal Inland hospital nearby (don't know if they have a psych ward), a counselling service, a short term stay health unit called Ponderosa Lodge and Kamloops Mental Health and Addiction Services nearby.

I hope LE takes a good look at the landlord. JMO

She certainly has an interesting and fun filled life. Her dog is absolutely gorgeous. It seems unlikely anything bad happened to her at home, because I would expect her dog to have intervened and in terms of how she is described by friends, she would put up a hell of a fight with anyone attempting to cause her harm.

On her Instagram she mentions something planned for Halloween. I wonder what that might have been?

The letter she wrote and her other Instagram account indicate that she is very self sufficient and apparently good at keeping things hidden from others.

I would be surprised if she left her dog willingly, yet there’s something very mysterious about her that means I can’t rule that out.

Matt Hatch is confident he saw Shannon White drive off for work on Monday, Nov. 1 shortly after 8 a.m.

Shannon, 32, has not been seen or heard from since and the RCMP’s serious crimes unit is investigating her disappearnce, with police labelling it “suspicious.”

Shannon rented a basement suite from Matt and wife Quinn on Bestwick Court in Lower Sahali and was known for her daily routine.

At about 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 1, — three hours after Shannon failed to show up for her job at Kamloops Hyundai at 940 Notre Dame Drive in Southgate (a two-kilometre drive) — Matt said he began receiving concerned messages from Shannon’s friends.

On Nov. 2 — the day after she left for work and never arrived — at about 3:30 p.m., police found Shannon’s vehicle, a 1997 black TJ model with BC licence plate KA0 22N, parked where it had no business being — in the 200-block of Nicola Street just outside the Sacred Heart Cathedral in downtown Kamloops. The spot is 1.3 kilometres from Shannon’s home via Sahali Terrace and Columbia Street West and in the opposite direction of her workplace.

According to Quinn, the morning White went missing was like any other.

Quinn was sitting in her vehicle waiting for her windows to defrost and said she saw Shannon, dressed for work, walk past Quinn’s car window in the driveway and toward her Jeep, but didn’t see Shannon enter the vehicle. Quinn said she didn’t see anyone with Shannon at the time.

Quinn said she drove away first at about 8:10 a.m. and didn’t see Shannon go back inside the house. She last saw Shannon outside, waiting for her Jeep to warm up.

Matt, who was in the house, heard the Jeep pulling out and saw it being driven away, but didn’t see White enter the vehicle or drive it.

He said he saw the vehicle make a left turn out of their cul-de-sac street, in the direction of the Hyundai dealership via Greenstone Drive and McGill Road.

“Every single morning, at the exact same time, she does the exact same thing. For me to think it was somebody else is completely false — it was her,” Matt said. “I’m 99.9 per cent sure.”

The last time Matt saw Shannon in person was the night before she disappeared, on Halloween night (Oct. 31) at about 8 p.m. when he took a bag of leftover Halloween candy down to her.

“Everything seemed nice and fine and said hi and then I went back upstairs and that’s it.” Matt said.

He told KTW he can’t say for sure if Shannon had any guests over when he last saw her, but he doesn’t think so as he didn’t see anyone when he went downstairs, nor did he hear anything that would suggest someone else was in the suite.

Makayla Peverill is a a close friend of Shannon and fellow member of the same off-roading club. She said she last saw Shannon in person on the night of Saturday, Oct. 30, when Shannon visited Makayla for dinner and a drive to watch for Northern Lights. The last time Makayla had contact with Shannon was via Facebook message at 8:04 a.m. on Nov. 1, the day she disappeared.

The two made plans to have Shannon visit to do some work on her Jeep later that night and Shannon’s last message confirmed those plans.

Makayla said she has known Shannon for two years. Shannon was single at the time she disappeared, but Makayla confirmed Shannon did have an ex-boyfriend, with whom White had issues, but they had been broken up for about a year.

Police have been made aware of Shannon’s former partner, Peverill said.

“It was a very tumultuous relationship,” Makayla said.”It was not a very friendly breakup. As far as anything else, the police have been notified as to any specific incidents.”

Makayla said Shannon and her ex had “intermittent contact” in the year since they broke up, but Shannon had not shared with her any recent encounters or communications between them.
