This is news from Vancouver Island from May 27th, 2021. It says the RCMP is investigating a "high-profile historical missing-person case" in Nanaimo. The description of the case as "high-profile" and "historical" got me interested. Does anyone have any guess on what case it might be?
Probably, the most famous case from Vancouver Island is Michael Dunahee. His case would be both "high-profile" and "historical." However, his case is associated with Victoria and was likely a child-at-the-playground abduction while the case in the news piece sounds domestic (ie. between a man and a woman).
Another "high-profile" and "historical" case from the greater area is that of Emma Fillipoff. She went missing from Victoria in 2012. I don't know if her case was ever associated with Nanaimo but it's not that far away. Certainly, she would be "high profile" as her case received a lot of news coverage. When a case becomes "historical" as opposed to modern is a matter of opinion but it is nine years ago.
The case of Carmen Robinson might be another "high-profile" one but that's from the Victoria area as well in 1973.
I was thinking Lisa Marie Young might be the case but the news source says that it is not hers. What are the high-profile cases for Nanaimo, please? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to make your opinion public.
