''A large-scale search is underway to find a missing 15-year-old boy who was last seen at his home in Bradford, Ont., on Friday night.

Siem Zerezghi’s parents noticed he was missing Saturday morning and reported his disappearance to the police, who have been searching for the Bradford teen over the last several days.

“At this point, there’s no indication as to why Siem has gone missing, and we just want to bring him home safe,” South Simcoe police Sgt. Dave Phillips told reporters Wednesday.

“If someone has had some interaction with Siem, we would love to hear about what and why. Siem is not in trouble. We want him back, we want him back safe.”

Police search for missing Bradford boy not seen since Friday resumes
''BARRIE, ONT. -- Police continue their extensive search of backyards, fields and wooded areas in Bradford to find a missing 15-year-old boy not seen since Friday evening.

According to police, Siem Zerezghi was last seen at his home in the Professor Day Drive and Northgate Drive area.

On Wednesday, South Simcoe Police set up a command post at Bradford District High School. Officers will be joined by members of the Georgian Bay Volunteer Search and Rescue in the large-scale search of the area for Siem.

Police say a team of detectives are carrying out interviews and investigating all avenues to locate the missing boy.

Siem is a black male, five feet 11 inches tall with a thin build, short buzzed hair, brown eyes and brown hair.

''Police are continuing their extensive search for a 15-year-old Bradford boy who has now been missing for nearly five days.

Siem Zerezghi was last seen at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday at his home in the Professor Day Drive and Northgate Drive area of Bradford.

Police say that there is “no indication” that Zerezghi had any kind of dispute or argument with his family that would have prompted him to leave, adding to the mystery of his disappearance.''

“It goes without saying that this a period of time that has passed so we are concerned for his wellbeing,” Sgt. David Phillips of the South Simcoe Police Service told reporters during a brief update late Wednesday afternoon. “We have no indication that there is any sort of issues, we would just like to see him brought home safely. Our main goal is to find him alive and well.”

Police began a “large-scale” search for Zerezghi in Bradford this morning with support from the Georgian Bay Volunteer Search and Rescue Team.

Phillips said that officers have already covered “an encouraging amount of ground,” with particular attention being paid to backyards and wooded areas.

He said that the search will be put on hold with the arrival of nightfall but will then resume in the morning with the same amount of resources dedicated to it''.

In addition to the ground search, police are also utilizing drones to examine more secluded areas.

“At this point we are looking for tips from the public. Maybe somebody has seen Siem in another community,” Phillips said. “We are appealing to our neighbouring communities in York, Toronto and Peel. If anybody has had any sightings of him we would love to hear about it.”

''Phillips said Zerezghi and his family moved to Bradford about two years ago. The 15-year-old has attended the local public school system with his siblings and possibly plays the game Fortnite.

“We’re delving into what his likes and interests are,” Phillips said. “If there’s a member of the community that interacts with him online, we would like to hear from them.”

Sgt. Phillips said there’s no indication Zerezghi has any access to money or a vehicle and that he’s left without any electronic devices.''

Very worried for this young boy.

He sounds very smart. Schoolmates say he does well at school. I wondered initially about bullying but that doesn't sound like the case.

Bradford is north of Toronto. Not a big place. Where has he gone? Without a vehicle it's hard to go far.

I wonder how long the family has been in Canada? I'm getting a bit of a Mariam Makhniashvili vibe.

Was he happy? Struggling? Who are his friends? Does he have friends? What does he like to do? Would he take a bus to Toronto?

We aren't getting a whole lot of information of a background nature to help find him. LE seems to be focusing on woods and terrain.

It's been one week since 15-year-old Siem Zerezghi disappeared in Bradford.

South Simcoe Police, along with search and rescue teams and the OPP helicopter, are back out for the eighth day trying to track down the teen.

Beyond that, police are appealing to residents to check their properties extensively for the boy.

"What we are asking is if you have a piece of property here in Bradford, can you search your property, search your out-buildings, maybe a boat, a trailer, or something on the property. Have a look," said Sgt. Dave Phillips.

As per the press conference, unfortunately Siem has been found deceased.

Items believed to be belonging to Siem were found this afternoon near a ‘water feature’ (described as a man-made drainage feature linked to a sub-division) in Bradford. Police divers were then called in and searched the water, and found Siem’s body.

The officer said Siem and his family were new to Bradford, and were grateful for the overwhelming support the community has shown them.

They have not determined the cause of death or if foul play was involved. They will brief the media again on Monday.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit was called to a nearby pond where a body was recovered. Police say the body will be taken to Toronto for a post-mortem exam.

Police thanked the community for their support of the family and searchers throughout the ordeal.

The investigation has determined that Siem left his home at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 24, and the last known sightings of him were obtained from security camera footage from the neighbourhood.

The investigation is ongoing as to why Siem left his home. Police say they will be providing an update on Monday. ''
