Still Missing Canada - Taylor Samson, 22, Halifax, NS, 15 Aug 2015 *Retrial 2023 Guilty*

  • #181
My understanding was that he just did not take his cell phone....meaning he left it at his apartment. I am thinking the police went through his phone, and found texts between him and WS about the meeting time, etc....which would have led them to WS's apartment.

It has been reported that he took his cell phone with him.

Samson left with a black duffle bag believed to be carrying marijuana. He only took his cell phone and left behind his wallet and car.

My apologies.....I completely misread that when media first reported, all this time thinking he did not have his phone with him. such a shame he did not or was not able to call or text for help :(

Agree - wish he could have made a call for help. The cell phone is what I think the police have as evidence that he was murdered. He may have been able to hit the record button.

Or maybe he was buried with his cell phone still in his jacket and the phone was pinged?

It was also stated that 3 cell phones were found in his apartment. How would they know he didn't have a fourth phone on him?

I noticed that Sandeson was arrested Tuesday evening and media all state "further investigation led police to search a home in the 1200 block of Henry Street in Halifax."

So it appears they had enough evidence to arrest Sandeson before they searched the apartment.

You are correct!!
I completely missed that.
LE MUST have had something before the apartment search

He probably took his personal phone with him, the one his girlfriend/family use to reach him. Drug dealers commonly use, and frequently change, disposable phones to set up drug deals so the calls can't be traced to them. So there were probably leads LE followed on the burner phones.

I think it unlikely that WS would have used his personal phone to set up the appointment, but perhaps police were able to trace the call/message back to him anyway, LE were apparently able to trace the burner phone used to make the appointment with Tim Bosma.

I've been thinking, it's been stated that Taylor had asked some of his 'friends' to come with him for the meeting. These were probably co-dealers in the network he was in and he probably told them who he was meeting with and where. As soon as it was known that he'd never come back from that meeting, they'd be very motivated and in a good position to track down WS to find out what happened, and in the end, give police whatever information was needed to arrest him.

It's so odd that there's no mention of other suspects or accomplices.

If the phone pinged they would know the location of his body and probably have recovered him by now I think.

I thought they could only narrow it down to the closest cell tower.

I believe they can triangulate the pings from multi towers to pinpoint the area where the cellular is located.

I wonder, with WS's connection to sports/wanting to be a sports doctor, lots of a different kind of drug use in that field. Maybe his aspirations were not to heal but to...

That brings up an interesting point. Will's prof (who also ran track at dal) argued that Will wouldn't be using marijuana himself because he would have been subject to regular drug testing as an athlete.

... yet we think he might have been the 'regular customer'.

Do you think the bags that were covered with a sheet ,contained blood stained stuffing? I think TS was taken out in a hollowed mattress or couch. That would require a truck.Did Will own a truck? If not, others were involved .Will could not carry a couch or mattress by himself.

No idea about Will's vehicle ownership. I couldn't tell if there were parking spaces associated with his apt. I will try to get a better look at the bags under the sheet.

This fits with what I have heard: I was told by a friend of Taylor's, before any of the police documents were reported on, that Taylor had gone out to sell 4 lbs of marijuana in a deal with 2 other guys that was set up by Will.

I swung by the Henry st. location again.
There are 2 ways out of the upstairs apartment: 1) down the stairs and through the glass doors on Henry st, and 2) by jumping off the roof of the extension to the fire escape of the adjacent building on south st.

I noticed that the glass door/window on the front of the Asian grocery (facing south st.) was cracked. I don't know if that is associated with the case; it could have been caused by a rock hitting the door 20 years ago for all I know. Anyway, the impact point is fairly low, counting the 2 steps up it was about 4 feet up from the sidewalk. The crack extends quite wide, and the corner of the window to the side of the door is also cracked.

Posting pics soon; I apologize for the poor visibility (it is night).

I have now uploaded pics of the cracks on the glass door (South st, Asian grocery). Unf. I don't know how long they have been there or if they are associated with the case.

http://ladybugb.imgur.com/ see 'cracked door' album.

It is a little painful to connect my mobile phone to my computer to upload to imgur (takes forever); I wonder if there is a better way. I am a tech noob and just got an android smartphone.

Very interesting. If they really find Taylor there, it would have to totally revise my impressions of the case and Will's participation in it.
