Identified! Canada - Toronto, Ont, LIVING white woman, Sep'12 - Linda Hegg

  • #81
I just got off the phone with the reporter from Delaware who has been responsible for Linda Hegg's story. She seems really impressed about the connection we made between the two Lindas. The reporter has some questions about Websleuths and wanted to pass along information on another missing person case from Delaware. Who could I have her call or contact? Is there a public affairs person or something? Thanks folks!

Put her in touch with Tricia.

Not so fast. I just called the Toronto police and she has not been identified yet. I gave them this person.

She is a friend of a friend and I periodically check to see if anything has turned up.
When the detective popped it up on his computer he said "JESUS!" on the phone. Same thing I said when I saw the pic of the woman in Canada.

I have been compiling a list of MPs and where they are located to understand average distances, and I would have to say that in 9/10 cases where car jacking/robbery is not immediately evident MPs who go missing with their vehicles are found in their car after suffering some sort of accident or natural death.

While I agree there are some similarities in appearances between "Linda" and Joann, Linda definitely has blue eyes whereas Joann does not.

Yes and the lady from Newark and the lady in Toronto are both named Linda, same age, facial features, the dates pretty much match up. I still think the two Linda's are the same.

Just to add, IIRC, Linda does not drive. Joann apparently was driving a vehicle and description of the vehicle was given.

Will wait for confirmation but I agree that Linda is a more probable match than Joann.

I believe fully that Dylan'smom solved this case no matter who the journalist named!! Way to go! So glad you have started following WS! I know that they are still verifying, but I am all but certain that your match is the right.

Joann Angel has brown eyes. Mystery woman Linda has blue eyes. We can rule out Joann by the different eye color.

I totally and completely agree. In my mind, Dylansmom solved this, period :) I sent an e-mail to the Newark chief of police but that was it. And in my e-mail I did not claim to be the one to find the info. It is possible that someone in Canada called it in even before yesterday. Regardless, you're my hero dylansmom! :)

The MSM article said a woman in Canada called it into the Newark LE on Wednesday. That clearly beats this threads start date which was yesterday/Thursday. It also said they are going to use physical evidence for verification, which tells me either DNA or dentals, so it may be a little bit before we get an official confirmation of an ID.

Still an excellent catch!

Yeah it looks like the lady in Canada has us beat but its just really good that there are so many people, everywhere, watching and trying to help people. I'm still feeling pretty good even if I'm number 2 (or 3) lol :)

I didn't mean to diminish your efforts in any way, Dylansmom. I really just wanted to point out the authorities were onto this possible match prior to the thread being started here at WS.

You did an awesome job. It reminds us all we shouldn't limit our possible matches to those MP's listed in the usual data bases. I don't think Linda Hegg is listed in NamUs, or if she was her case file wasn't viewable to the public yet.

Good job Dylansmom....just read this thread...wow

Investigators from both departments are now working together to confirm through a DNA connection that the Lindas are the same. The process could take as long as 60 days, Burke said.

Nice job Dylansmom!
I had the same thing happen with the Bambi Lynn Dick match, so please don't think you didn't do any good- every eye that's watching is doing something great, and keep looking!!! There are sooo many unidentifed people that need people just like you to keep your eyes open!!

Again- GREAT JOB!

IMHO, I think that Dylansmom's catch still helped solve this case. Even though they say that someone called from Canada on Wednesday, they didn't pursue her "tip" until more calls were made because of Dylansmom's catch here. We have witnessed here on WS many times that tips are sometimes ignored, but when they look back after another tip is called in, they find that they already had this same information. It is important that many people look at these cases and help bring LE's attention to such great finds by the public!! :)

WTG DM!!
