So did she make it on her trip? Did the group leave without her? I'm assuming, since she was last seen in Toronto, that she never made it on her trip.
That's a very long time to be missing.

Why is she reported as missing just now??? Who reported her missing?

Depending on the type of tour group, the tour guide will let the rest of the group know if a member of the group left for whatever reason. At least, this is the policy in the tour groups I've been with.

Praying she is found soon. I worry, though . . . such a long time to be missing.

Does she have family and friends nearby, or is she living alone?

How does this tour group fit into the whole thing? Does she have any personal issues that would lead to her disappearance?

I wonder if the tour organizers did a head count at some point (after arriving by bus at the airport, for example), and realized that she was gone.

From what I've read, the police will release information months later when they've exhausted all leads. Or if they have to restart the investigation due to bad information at the beginning.

weird
so whoever reported her missing maybe thought she was overseas all this time?

Tying in with the Catholic religious medal she appears to be wearing, just a block away from where she went missing is the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church.

The church bulletins list tours by ihtours with a priest as a spiritual advisor. This year there is a trip to the Holy Land in November, but I couldn't find a tour listed in the bulletins for Dec. 2016. Since she was last seen before leaving on the tour this information is moot anyway, but I was curious, as usual. :)

I agree she has what appears to be a St. Christopher medal pinned to her, he is the patron saint of safe travel and journeys.

In addition I agree with everyone else's comments on here. No basic information.. i.e.

Did the entire bus go missing?

Did her travel companions say she never got on the plane to return home.

So the only thing it could be:

I believe a person that casually knew her and knew she was taking a church trip and never returned was the person that reported her missing. I also believe that person took her photo with the St. Christopher medal on her departure before she boarded the bus. Since that was last time she was seen. The medal is also casually pinned to her like it was temporary, it looks like she also wore another medal because that is a medal chain.

This person may be so casual no one will give them to much info, all they know or think is that she never returned.

Maybe she did return, maybe she did not. Or maybe she did not want this person to know and she moved some where else. Very sketchy missing report by someone that did not know too much.

Her family would have known if she didn't return in January 2017 and would have reported it then. She must have some relatives, even her church friends would have reported it if that was the case and the landlord. But no one did, know one that really knows her reported her missing because they wouldn't wait until August 2017.

A church may not necessarily sponsor a tour, however there are plenty of catholic pilgrimages.

You make lots of good points. There is also a good possibility that she was reported missing soon after the trip, but that LE has reached a dead end and is finally reaching out to the public now. There needs to be more info released. Has she accessed her bank account? Did mail pile up? When was she reported missing?

I've tried to find some reference to her online and can't. We don't know if she's well established in Toronto or a newcomer. We don't know if she has family in Canada. There's so much we don't know. We don't even know if she actually left on the tour. LE says she was last seen leaving with the group. Then what? Surely if she disappeared on or after the tour, her group would say she was last seen on the tour. It makes me think a landlord or employer reported her missing when she didn't return as expected.

Since the tour company is listed in the Church bulletin and it was said it was a "church group tour," I figured it was that one. I don't think it's organized by the church, just listed, and I'm just guessing that she goes to that church near where she disappeared, but who knows? It certainly could be any tour company that does tours oriented to Catholics, such as the one you linked.

This really is a difficult case to look at without more information.

This is such a weird story. So many questions.

Although that may be the case, it looks like all local missing people are on the site's mp list, imo, speculation.

I was researching to see if there were any other news stories FB pages, that offered more information but they all seem to say the same 4 sentences. Maybe she isn't gay. Thank you dotr.

Thank you for trying to find something when there does not seem to be much available to find!

Reminded now of a thread started quite a while back concerning possibly missing from Toronto, Korean youth, which was equally mystifying..imo.
Found it.

This article on the thread you posted makes me wonder where You Soon Ju is from. Could she be a North Korean refugee? It's long shot that doesn't help find her, but could she have gone into hiding?

Very little information still. It has barely made a beep online.
There are so many catholic churches in Toronto, it's hard to pinpoint hers.
I do hope more is released, to have a starting point. Very unusual case.

Re. Gay York Region post

That website was populated with many crime and missing persons, stories; I don't think one can make an inference as to her sexual orientation because of her story being on their website. JMHO.
