''Montreal police have issued an Amber Alert for a missing one-year-old girl that was taken from a home in the Lachine borough.
The child, Zeynab Cherrabi El Alaoui, was abducted overnight while staying at her maternal grandparents' home. She was wearing a light pink onesie with pink and white unicorn on it.

Her grandparents noticed that she was missing and a window was open at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, according to Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. They called 911 and officers have been going door-to-door seeking information about the missing child.''

''The baby's father was located in Laval, Que., north of Montreal, and questioned by police, who said they attempted to determine whether he knew about the mother's whereabouts or motives.

Police say they don't have information about a vehicle used in the case, adding that the pair could be travelling by other means, including public transit, and could be outside Montreal, as many hours have passed since the morning's alleged abduction. They are asking anyone with information to call 911.

"The important thing at this point and the most important thing for the Montreal Police department is really the security and the safety of that child aged one and the mother," Brabant said. Police, he added, have checked hospitals and the city's main airport; detectives have gone door to door in the grandparents' neighbourhood to collect clues.''

''Police are asking for the public's help in finding Zeynab Cherrabbi El Alaoui, who was abducted at around 9:25 a.m. Tuesday from a home on Louis Basile Pigeon Street.

Police are looking for the child's mother, 18-year-old Miryanna Monterrosa-Laberte. She has a scar on her upper lip and on her forehead, according to the alert that was issued shortly after 1:30 p.m. She is approximately five feet three inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. ''

Wonder why the mother’s parents had custody of this child, rather than the child’s mother (who is only 18 years old—maybe that has something to do with it?) or the child’s father.

“According to Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, the grandparents had legal custody of the child. The child was put to bed Monday night, and when the grandmother went to check on her Tuesday morning, the child was missing, and the bedroom window was found opened.

Police located the child's father, a 20-year-old man, in Laval and are questioning him. Police consider him an "important witness" in the investigation.“
