Doyle is asked to stand, and the charges are put to him.

On count one, dangerous driving, he is accused of driving a Ford Galaxy Titanium, vehicle registration number DC18OPW, dangerous on roads between his home address on Burghill Road and Water Street.

This is a charge which can be dealt with by either the magistrates or crown court, although the remaining counts are indictable only and can only be dealt with in the crown court.

Count two, wounding with intent, alleges that he unlawfully and maliciously wounded a man with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

Count three similarly alleges that Doyle unlawfully and maliciously wounded a boy with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

Count four, inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, alleges that he unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to a woman with intent.

Count five likewise alleges that he unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to another woman with intent.

Count six, attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm, states that Doyle attempted to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm to a man with intent.

Finally, count seven similarly alleges that he attempted to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm to a boy with intent.

Judge: “Charges two through to seven are indictable only charges. Charge number one will be sent as a linked allegation.

I send you to Liverpool Crown Court. There will be a hearing today before the Recorder of Liverpool, his Honour Judge Menary KC. That won’t be before 12.30pm today I understand.”

Doyle is asked to take his seat.

The judge reminds members of the press that the complainants cannot be named under reporting restrictions.

Mr Derby indicates that there will be no application for bail on behalf of the defendant.

District Judge Healey formally remands Doyle into custody ahead of this afternoon’s hearing.

Mr Derby says there will be no indication of plea.

Doyle is asked to go with the officers, and the hearing is concluded.

I'll stand to be corrected but I don't think they can name children in any event. If that's the case the order isn't even required in relation to them.

I think it's the link that is probably important

Yes little children involved so I can see why we have restrictions and quite rightly so.
This is also a moving investigation so more charges could easily follow.

As a football fan myself
(although only my country's National Team)
this case makes me sad :(

Jubilation, Unity, Pride, Joy - all positive emotions
turning into tragedy and pain.

It stays in community like a scar.
It affects community in a bad way.
I'm not sure ppl realize this.

I wonder if the victims can sue in civil lawsuits.
After all,
who knows how long physical & mental therapies can take and how much they cost.

My thoughts are with the victims.

Liverpool Fans - You are the Champions!!! ⚽

The charges brought against Mr Doyle will attract a potentially heavy sentence, should he be found guilty.

Unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm attracts a maximum sentence of life, with sentencing guidelines suggesting a range of two to 16 years’ imprisonment.

The same applies for causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm and intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm also has a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. Sentencing guidelines suggest that the average sentence for GBH with intent ranges from three to 16 years in prison.

Meanwhile, dangerous driving typically attracts a mandatory driving ban for a minimum of 12 months, a potential prison sentence of up to five years and an unlimited fine.

It would be for the trial judge to determine whether the sentences for each count should be served concurrently or consecutively.

Concurrently. It's very unusual to get consecutive sentences. Also, these offences (if he's convicted, obviously), were all done at the same time so there's no way they'd be sentenced consecutively.

Maybe his wife just dumped him? Or some other distressing event?

We’re now waiting outside courtroom 41 of Liverpool Crown Court, where we’re expecting Doyle to appear in around 15 minutes before the Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC.

Mr Astbury will again appear for the prosecution during this hearing, with Damian Nolan representing the defendant.

The media have now been allowed to take their seats in the crown court.

Again, there are around 30 members of the press present.

We’re expecting the hearing to begin from around 12.30pm.

The prosecution and defence counsel have now taken their seats.

We’re just waiting on the judge and the defendant.

Recorder of Liverpool takes his place and the hearing begins

Judge Menary takes up his position.

Doyle is brought into the dock, again wearing a black suit, white shirt and grey tie.

He speaks to confirm his name and date of birth.

The hearing is ready to begin.

Trial date set for later this year

Mr Astbury reminds the court of the reporting restrictions made in the magistrates’ court this morning.

A trial date is set for November 24, provisionally lasting three to four weeks.

Plea hearing scheduled

A plea and trial preparation hearing is scheduled for August 14.

I suspect his wife and children/family have been removed to somewhere safe.
Even though it’s not their fault they will face no end of grief over his actions.

"No bail application"

Yep.
No surprise here.

After all
I don't think this defendant could roam the streets of Liverpool safely,
even with
"his head bowed" and...
oh wait!
"close to tears" cough, cough
sporting a fancy suit, white shirt and a grey tie.

Reporting restrictions to continue

The court turns to the issue of reporting restrictions.

Judge Menary says the reporting restrictions will continue in the interim but asks for the case to be relisted next week for the matter to be determined.

The order in respect of the child complainants will remain in place indefinitely.

In the case of all the orders, this prevents reporting of their names, addresses, places of work, schools, pictures or any other information which could lead to their identities being revealed.

Case to be relisted to determine reporting restrictions

The case will be listed on Tuesday next week in relation to the reporting restrictions.

Doyle will not be required to attend court on this date.

Doyle nods as judge remands him into custody

Judge Menary tells Doyle: “I am going to adjourn this matter now. The next hearing so far as you are concerned is a plea and trial preparation hearing on the 14th of August. The purpose of that hearing will be to enter your pleas to the indictment.”

Doyle nods as he is told he will be remanded into custody until this date.

That concludes the hearing, and Doyle is led to the cells by two dock officers.

I don't think the prisons are entirely devoid of people from Liverpool. As acts of self-preservation go it's about on a par with driving into huge crowds of people to avoid getting your car trashed.... oh wait.

I have a question.
MSM reported about 70+ victims.
But the charges show 6 victims.

Will the number of charges increase in future?
What about other casualties? 🤔
Or do only those in hospital represent others?
But,
one never knows what long term effects can be,
even if some victims have already been discharged from hospitals.

I feel really sorry for them, tbh.

Yep - me too.
They didn’t ask for this utter nightmare.

If this goes to trial I would expect the trial to be moved out of Liverpool, like they did with Cashman?
