UK - Car drives into pedestrians at Liverpool FC victory parade. Man detained, 26 May 2025

Sounds like that’s what’s been assumed on arrest then dropped.
Strange that his driving was erratic from the moment he got in his car that day.
All very odd.
I get the impression that there is a lot we don't know about this whole situation which will come out at trial.

Yes agreed.
It will all come out in the wash as they say.

We don't have field impairment tests in this country as far as I'm aware. I'm always amazed that the US uses them as they are really just pseudo-science which can be abused by officers. If someone is clearly impaired then they'll be asked to blow into a breathalyser and if they don't they'll get arrested.

Depending on his behavior at the time, it may just be the case that they arrested him on suspicion of being under the influence of something or other which they are perfectly entitled to do.

Yeah we do - suspect this is the reason for the initial arrest for drug driving.

Yes, very intrigued about the driving dangerously from his home address.

I’m presuming this is Doyle as it was listed for tomorrow.

Why does he look like Russ Abbott in the artist's sketch? Ah, wait, I know why........

I await with bated breath his defence on this.

Tomorrows list for Doyle at Liverpool Crown.
I am more than curious as to how he’s planning to explain this one away to be perfectly honest.

This feels like it's going to be a big waste of everyone's time and money. Interested to hear information we don't already know though.

Where i am in Scotland, jury citations are sent out for the day prior to a trial. The potential jurors sit at home and await phone calls from the clerk of court, firstly to determine availability, and the second one to say if they've been selected. England may be the same, which would explain the apparent speed of selection.

The only thing I can think of is that the jury will have been selected for service from yesterday and maybe all the necessary checks were done then ready for today ?
Just my opinion here obviously.

I think the way it happens is that you get the summons to show up on a particular day and you wait around until you get called for a trial. As far as I'm aware, I think you get called for a week or a fortnight and you might get to do more than one trial.

Again, I don't have any first-hand experience as to how long jury selection takes but my belief has always been that it's usually very quick. Each side doesn't get to randomly object to jurors here, as far as I'm aware. The parties don't get to "select" their preferred jury make up.

Personally, I'd love that letter to drop through the door!

How many artists do they have in that courtroom?

Yes they will have been there since yesterday so I’m guessing all questionnaires done then ready for today.
Looks like it’s getting started tomorrow now.
