Casey Anthony Deposition FILED 2.25.2014

Confusing, to say the least. Isn't it?

I don't understand the Judge's ruling...I need to read the whole thing...

She can not be tried again on matters she was acquitted of ..Double Jeopardy applies..
BUT
She can incriminate herself on matters that would bring about NEW criminal charges against her.

Exactly, Intermezzo! She can't answer because it might incriminate her but she's already been tried? Don't think this is logical. Is it?

Thinking this must be sloppy journalism. Makes no sense. Double jeopardy applies for all aquittal charges. What crimes could she incriminate herself in by replying to the questions asked in depo?? Especially if those questions have already been limited?

I agree..
I will have to wait to read the official documents or transcript of the hearing

A well now..Federal Perjury charges..that is what her team is afraid of...interesting..

presenting material false statements under oath on a federal official proceeding
presenting material false statements under oath before or ancillary to federal court or grand jury proceedings
subornation of perjury, prohibits inducing or procuring another to commit perjury in violation of either section 1621 or 1623

there is also a false statement statute under federal law, 18 USC 1001, closely relates to Perjury Statutes

http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/98-808.pdf

Did Casey speak with Federal investigators in July or August 2008?
gotta find that transcript

on October 14,2008, the day she was indicted for murder she spoke with investigators..was that local LE or was the investigator a Fed?

Bill Sheaffer explains that she might face Federal perjury charges....
I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen though!

It's always about YOU! grrrrrr forgot how sickening she was! I, ME, MYSELF, ugh

Poor Caylee.

Now, don't be mad, KC was just so frushrated and she couldn't shwallow, so she got a little mad - 1st time ever since Caylee was murdered, err I mean drowned.

neither will I but i do find it interesting....

I had a strong belief they were protecting her from new criminal charges and that is why Mason got involved....I didn't consider the Federal investigators though..kind of forgot that

Yo, I'm all for a catch 22 here... Serves her right! She's lied herself into a little corner here and now expects protection, or a way around it. Let her fall flat on her face, right where she belongs. This is precisely the reason we have perjury laws, perfect example... Except they're trying to use it both as a shield and as a sword, of course... If ever a case needed a big fat perjury charge... I pray, I pray, I pray....

All jmo.

I don't get the possibility of her being caught for perjury. She never testified.

It seems like her attorney's are saying that there is a lot more to the story that we shouldn't have to tell. I don't understand the ruling at all.

So ok... let me get this straight...
The trial is for defamation of Zanny.... Casey used Zanny as a cover up (essentially) to divert attention away from her...
But now the judge says she doesn't have to say it was a cover up due to 5th amend....
So now what's the defense?

"that wasn't me, I didn't say that, you all misunderstood me even though I said it on tape 900000 times and wrote it out 5000000 times."?

CA and GA were interviewed by the FBI in 2008. I don't think FCA was. If she was, could someone please post a link? And/or to any transcripts of FCA and Fed questions under oath?

  • #357
Didn't FCA search the name Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez on her computer? Can't remember if it was before the murder or not. Wonder why she wasn't asked about this?

I don't believe that OCA was ever interviewed by the FBI. I recall two agents sat with her at the OCSO, when she was arrested, and chit chatted with her while she waited for JB. They never interviewed her.

It the videos where she tugged at almost every conceivable part of her body and clothes the entire time. I suggest you mute unless you want to hear her annoying nasal voice.

I believe that this an FBI investigator..I will go find the link that says who he is..
Nick Savage or there was another agent...

Special Agent Scott Bolin was in a vehicle with other LE(Cpl Edwards) arriving at the spot where Casey was arrested under the under pass after switching vehicles and they took her into custody and drove to the OCSO where they interviewed her..

Cpl Edwards and Special Agent Scott Bolin in this video

Special Agent Nick Savage in this video..here she is saying that as a mother she feels that connection that she knows that her daughter is still alive. She says what LE has is Speculation and Savage says they have more than speculation or else they wouldn't be at this point.

Enter BAEZ into the interview room....they leave to go talk in private..then return and Baez states that she's invoking her right to counsel and she now wants to go to jail (basically not speak with LE)

Now is there ANYTHING in those videos that would rise to Federal Perjury charges? Unless I have missed another interview ...
She is saying her motherly connection to Caylee tells her that Caylee is still alive and speaks about the Tips that have come in.....

I try to stay away from the emotional side but it is difficult to look at her being so giddy, giggly etc...KNOWING her daughter was DEAD...

Even if you ignore the truth and say Caylee drowned in the pool, FCA knew that on July 25. Is the legal system so allergic to common sense that this judge is supposed to suspend his knowledge that Caylee was dead before then??
