I agree with you and we don't know what Baez is telling the family. It's more reasonable to presume that if anything, Baez is telling them that the forensics aren't airtight; that the air farm stuff methodology is so new that no one can guarantee for sure whether it will even be admissible, and that DNA can be challenged without necessarily arguing that the underlying science is crackpot.
I can't wait for him to do that. The prosecutor will shred him up, mix him with mayo and spread him on Ritz crackers when he does.
