Casey Kasem has passed away ~ Rest in peace, Casey

Oh my. Jean is leaving him in the morgue to spite his kids, that's beyond sad. What a hateful *****.

I don't think Jean has any intentions of burying Casey. I don't think she wants to spend the money. And she wants to further hurt his kids. She's a horrible woman.

She didn't visit him in the nursing home in Santa Monica, and she had already moved on to a new boyfriend. She was done with Casey, except for his money. She just wants to do anything to spite his kids! Wonder if anyone still supports her?

Good point she nor her daughter visited Casey while he was at the Santa Monica facility which was over a 4 month time span. She was just waiting for her pay day.

I just saw this. That is just horrible. I would now be fighting for a court order to bury my father. This woman is unbelievable.

[modsnip]

Casey has been there a month, the ME would have ordered an autopsy if it was warranted.

Daughter seeks right for autopsy of Casey Kasem

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- A judge in Washington state has granted Casey Kasem's daughter a temporary restraining order preventing the famous radio host's second wife from cremating or removing his remains from a funeral home.

You might feel vastly different if Casey was YOUR father.

Jean Kasem, the radio personality's second wife, had been embroiled in a conflict with his children from a previous marriage over her husband's medical care for months before he died. She collected the body within 72 hours of his death.

Kerri Kasem was informed Thursday that Kasem's body was no longer at the mortuary, where it remained for a month.
Gaffney Mortuary also confirms that Kasem is no longer in their care.

Are the BBMs confusing to anyone else? Which was it 72 hours or a month because I am pretty sure it cannot be both??

His body could have been collected 72 hours after his death from the hospital morgue and then moved to a mortuary where it remained for over a month awaiting further instruction from Jean.

Jean also likely, despite Casey's written wishes, cremated Casey so no autopsy could be performed. As well to spite his children who will now never have a grave or anything to visit.

This has become a tiresome soap opera. What good will an autopsy do now? IF it is at all possible. If there were charges of elder abuse, an autopsy would have been done. The last days of his life, Casey was in a hospital under the care of doctors, as Kerri wanted and went to a judge to have court ordered. There is a saying about 'beating a dead horse'.

We don't know this to be true. IMHO

We have a BIL who did that to us, so we just have to remember DH's sister through memories/pictures. Cremated her that is, then kept the ashes- then his next wife stole them, and we heard they were lost in a fire...

Radio star Casey Kasem's remains moved from funeral home against children's wishes

By By Alex Dobuzinskis 2 hours ago
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The remains of radio personality Casey Kasem have been moved from a Washington state funeral home, against the wishes of three of his adult children, a spokesman for the siblings said on Friday. <snip> Since then, Kasem's children Kerri, Julie and Mike have learned his body was removed from Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma, Washington, against their wishes, said Danny Deraney, a spokesman for the siblings. The three believe Jean Kasem, who had legal rights over the body, arranged to have it moved but they do not know where it is, Deraney said. <snip>Candace Corkum, administrative manager for Gaffney Funeral Home, confirmed Kasem's body was no longer at the facility. Final disposition of the remains happened before the Washington state judge's order on Wednesday, Corkum said, but she declined to say what happened to the body. more at link: https://celebrity.yahoo.com/news/radio-star-casey-kasems-remains-moved-funeral-home-011020151.html

BBM. From the same article: A Washington state judge on Wednesday forbade movement of the body from the funeral home, according to the New York Daily News. The order was based on a request by Kerri Kasem to have an autopsy conducted on Kasem to investigate suspicions of elder abuse, Deraney said.

Casey Kasem's body is missing, says his daughter.

No it's not, says his wife. "Now leave me alone to grieve."

ETA: That should have been 'leave us to grieve.' Dunno who that's refering to.

you know,,,,grrrrr,,,,, there's so much disrespect from the top of this article as it cites Jean as '''ex-wife''' instead of widow.....
fact is she IS the next of kin she is the legal wife.....and as far as leaving 'us' to grieve that most likely refers to her and her child

death does not become most families from what I have experienced and observed -- JMHO
it just doesn't bring out the best in people.

It's being hidden to avoid an autopsy ?
Can this case get any stranger? This is horrible. Here's a man adored by many, an actual PIECE of American culture for many millions spanning multiple generations. Instead of being allowed the gracious and respectable farewell that he should have, his death has become a spectacle of the bizarre and the macabre.
Once again, Rest in Peace, Casey and I'm sorry for this weird semi sendoff and thankful you are not witnessing it.

:( :( :( It's so boooo !
