Casey's Diary Entry for June 21st & Missing Pages #1

The year appears to be written on the book cover. All the pages are ripped out and then it starts on june 21st. It could be that she started it in '03 then ripped out those years and then began writing in it again. Was this sent to a document examiner for forensic analysis? I haven't seen or heard anything about that.

FWIW, I have seen books with a kind of binding on the first page or two right up by the spine of the book. That's what it looks like to me, not like pages torn out. I really don't know, though, to me it is hard to tell by the pictures, even blown up.

I have my doubts now as well...when I initially saw the pic on wesh.com, '03 was not visible at all. However, I can see where pages are missing, so the possibility exists it's an old journal she began re-using last summer. I know my DD has many journals she has been given that are just sitting in a box.

I don't know what to think right now - and my concern is that a jury will doubt this as well. And I want the evidence to be airtight.
Don't worry, the prosecution will hire handwriting experts to point out to the jury the torn out pages in between, and the discrepancy with the '03- on the other page- which is clearly visible. I have faith any jury would convict her- it fits right in with her Bella Vida tattoo.

I was just looking at these pictures http://www.wftv.com/slideshow/news/18740442/detail.html and holy crap I wanna puke. Those heart stickers on picture 20, I hope are not like the one she used on the duct tape. I have those exact same stickers. They came in a calendar book thing I got in a gift bag from the hospital when I had my son (he is only 5 months younger than Caylee). I'm wanting to think the book is sponsored by Evenflo and the hearts say different things like "One week old", "Kiss", etc. to put on the milestone calendar.

We all know she prolly was happier then she has been, she was out from under Cindy's thumb and this was huge to her.
And she was out from the albatross of Caylee around her neck...:furious::furious::furious:

If you look at the diary on one side it says "Carpe Diem"

Not sure what the "03" stands for, but I feel that all the above have more significance.

Does anyone else see the left page top left corner? It looks like '03

I agree, the whole context of this entry fits right in with June 21, 2008 and LE didn't throw it out here for nothing.

I agree. You can see the strip of glue on the Carpe Diem page near the binding. I have bought journals where the fly leaf is stuck to the first page because of that strip of glue.

I think only one page was torn out because she made a mistake or something. The center binding would be a bigger mess if there'd been more than one page ripped out. If you look very carefully at the close-up photo, to the left of the J in June, you can see she began to write in the exact same spot. I really think this is from 03 and she just messed up and couldn't erase, so ripped out the first page and started again.

"a source who claims prosecutors will enter the 14-page, hand-written journal into evidence at Anthony’s trial for murder."
"

14 hand-written pages???????

There's more to this diary....

I wonder how accurate this is? We know how much Casey like to write things out. She and all of them like their yellow pads and notebooks.

Regarding the diary entry.....

I so desperately want it to be from June 21, 2008 but, in my gut, I don't believe it is.

1 - '03 entry on the cover in red ink

2 - red ink again used in June 21 entry

3 - Why in the world would someone like KC take the time to actually WRITE out her thoughts and feelings about murdering her daughter on paper and leave the journal in her bedroom?? When was she even at the house long enough on June 21st to fill in that entry? It doesn't make sense. KC was all about cell phones and myspace and facebook for "journal entries". This seems to be something a teenager would do. Not the KC we think we know in '08.

I like the idea of an above poster that this is a yearbook. There might be a section for writing your thoughts and memories about the year.

I seriously don't think KC would have gone all "old school" on us and laid on her bed and wrote in her diary about the day....all her thoughts and feelings and emotions....then put it away on her bookcase. (seriously, these people are pack rats ...holy moley! DE- CLUTTER!!)

Once KC was arrested, don't you think she would have found a way of getting rid of her "diary" so it would never have been found?

Are we sure LE took this into evidence or simply snapped a picture of this page? They may have snapped a picture just to show "how she thinks", how she "processes" things.

I desperately want it to be the nail in the coffin but will refrain from total giddiness until I see the experts reports that this was writtin in JUNE '08! Until then, I think it was from the summer of '03....long before all of this mess took place.

Maybe the year she was supposed to graduate?

WESH is reporting it as 2008:

"10:58 a.m.: A photo of Casey Anthony’s diary, dated June 21, said, "I hope I made the right decision. I just hope the end justifies the means…This is the happiest I have been in a very long time." The date puts it a few days after Caylee was last seen alive."

(emphasis added)

Think about that for a few minutes. A few days after her daughter was supposedly kidnap and she was so worried; doing her own investigation; etc. and she writes about how happy she is and about a decision she recently made that she is a bit worried about but confident in, at the same time. Just let that roll around in your mind a bit.

Just because WESH says it doesn't make it so.

I want it to be June 21 2008 as much as anyone but based on the evidence it appears that it's most likely a journal from 2003.

As I posted on another thread, when I first saw the diary pages, I thought the writing was recent, and pertained to her decision to break it off with rm and stay with al. However, after looking at all the pictures, I do agree that it was from '03. I also do not see that the pages prior to the 6/21 entry were torn out. I believe this is a school yearbook. I am not sure, but on the page that she wrote on, it looks like a watermark of a cat (perhaps a school mascot?) Also, you can see that the diary was placed on another book. In a separate picture you can see that the other book was also a school yearbook from 2001. So, I am thinking LE was pulling out her old books, and came upon the entry.

I am going to try to link the pictures, but not sure how.

this may have already been brought out, I am going back to read the posts in this thread now.

All, jmo

You can't see the dried yellowed glue between the pages? It's obvious to me.

Can forensics tell when this was written, how long the ink has been dry or something?

She wasn't home on June 21st of '08.

She was at Tony's on the date of the entry. I think Tony saw her writing in it. jmo

YES .. wasn't there mention of her writing in her journal in his interview? That may be why LE was looking for journals. I still think this is possibly an old school yearbook. That doesn't mean that the writing isn't recent, I couldn't tell you which year on 6/21 she wrote that entry. I also can see where everyone thinks there are pages torn out, however, I have hardcover journals also. In quite a few of them, the first page is sort of glued to the cover due to the binding of the book. When you press the page down in order to write it the book, it looks like this one does.

I'm just throwing this question out there but if LE just took a picture of this page do they release it to the defense if they do not plan on using it and it has no significance? In discovery do they give the defense everything or just everything they are going to use at trial?

ETA: I don't see any value to this at all if it was not written in 2008

I tend to think you may be right about this, but in any case, this is only a tiny little bit of evidence that was taken. I know one thing it doesn't prove, though. It doesn't prove Casey Anthony did not kill her daughter.

Yearbooks don't use lined paper for blank comment pages... Probably she started the journal in '03 and continued to use it, or Casey may have tried to backdate the journal, or never really believed she'd be caught, which is why she hyper-ventilated when told they'd found Caylee's body. Red ink is irrelevant, all it proves is that Casey likes to use it. They can date the ink and the paper. Perhaps the journal was at Tony's and brought back.

We know she wrote Diary of Days. It seems to be her style...

FWIW I don't think this is a school yearbook. This book is laying on top of the assumed school yearbook, which is lying longways underneath it. That would make this journal book only about 8" tall--too short for a yearbook. I think this is a ruled journal available at your local Target store.

The year appears to be written on the book cover. All the pages are ripped out and then it starts on june 21st. I can relate to this theory. I am the world's worst to, being highly motivated, buy a journal/diary, use it for a few days, then put it away and not see it for months (years). I just know this is what she did!!
