Catalog of Defense Blunders: Let us count the ways

I can sum up each and every blunder thus far (and I do not have all day to list them all, we have all been watching, I don't need to point them out to ya'll) in two words.

Acute Specialitis.

A "unique" disease that afflicts Mr. Baez. Syptoms include the delusion that you or your client are in some way special, not bound by the laws and rules of society, court proceding, or just plain decent behavior. "Quite Frankly", the way in which mr. Baez has conducted this defense is fraught with examples that he suffers from this incurable condition.

Thanks for putting the links for the letters! I forgot to do that! I must admit that seeing them just enrages and inflames me...lol...but I won't allow JB to have that power over me. His letters are unprofessional and obviously reveal the huge chip he has on his shoulder and insecurity.

No problem and your welcome, I knew there was one very early letter from JB missing and related to the letters you posted. Me, being me had to go and find it.

I wish JB was never involved with ICA, Caylee would have had her justice by now.

Hiring JB may have been the ultimate defense blunder. I love how at the last hearing a reporter asked Cindy if she was still confident in the defense team (paraphrasing but it was close) and CA said, "no comment." there is no confidence in this defense team nor in their strategy to evade justice for Caylee.

During the time that ICA was being whisked away daily to JB's office, her not so subtle demeanor. (as in playing the sunglasses game with the driver Rob Dick, and speaking of her desire to be a celebrity guest with Howard Stern, and the helicopters following her). All clearly not the emotional display a frantic Mother who is searching for her missing daughter would show. All of which is transcribed in interviews with States witnesses.

The total lack of control of JB's 'client' and her non-remorseful, "excited to be a celebrity" appearance.

OT but I couldn't resist- that big High 5 with Lee at JB's office told a tale all by itself. JB should have told her to behave with some decorum, as a real grieving mother would... don't need Dr Glassman to interpret that scenario.

Totally agree and it leads to the biggest blunder of all: NOT HIRING a COMPETENT REPLACEMENT LAWYER ~:banghead: WHICH should have been sticking with LEAMON as the DP qualified FIRST CHAIR!

This was the first blunder that came to my mind last night but I'm foggy on the details too and I just couldn't stand to look it up (but for you I did)!

Defense Spokesman Says Caylee Anthony is Dead

A spokesman for Casey Anthony’s defense team told CNN that her young daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, is dead. Todd Black, attorney Jose Baez’s spokesman, was live on a phone interview on CNN Wednesday evening when he said, “It’s very difficult. This is a serious case involving not just the loss of the life of this little girl, but the loss of whatever is going to happen with Casey Anthony.”

And of course it was followed by:

Todd Black said defense attorney Jose Baez will hold a press conference at his Kissimmee office at 2 p.m. today.

Excellent CNN clip at link, shows many classic ICA moments and the exchange.

Followed by Todd Black is Not His Real Name!

ETA: OOPS I see CBT beat me to it - same as above.

You are completely awesome! You and CBT too. Shame on me for posting sketchy details & leaving it to everyone else to clarify. :blushing: Thanks for looking all that up. It was quite a BIG blunder at the time, and still is really, but it seems to lose its impact when buried in SO MANY other issues.

Not really OT, that was a blunder too, in my line of thinking. Maybe not a blunder on the part of the defense team, but a typical pie-in-the-face A-family moment. I think it was that very moment, frozen in time, when their hands met that I lost what shred of hope I had left that maybe Lee, at the very least, was almost a decent person.

Fighting against a gag order, imo, is one of the biggest blunders JB made in this case. Not because it makes him seem disingenuous when he complains about the media, but because WHAT DEFENSE ATTORNEY in their RIGHT MIND would fight a gag order in a case like this? Jose Baez!

And the right to a speedy trial!
