From my understanding, Casey was segregated, but not isolated. She spent quite a bit of time on the psych floor (according to her letters to Robyn), but was moved to a regular floor. On both floors, she did not share a cell with anyone, but there were others in the neighboring cells. She was not in solitary confinement.
Thinking along similar lines. Maybe someone on the psych. staff could have mentioned to KC that incarcerated at that jail there was another young mother who had lost her young child. Empathy?
I doubt this, but were there occasions when KC would be in a group therapy session at the jail?
