I wish they would have had our "numbers" calculate it for them. Numbers could have recouped much more ~ and I'm sure it would have all been above board and legal. . . Numbers doesn't miss a thing!

I would have added in the cost of the paper required to print out so many copies, the pro-rated cost of Ashton's transportation to the court house, his lunch, his secretary's pro-rated salary, the pro-rated cost of the electricity needed to power Ashton's computer and lights in his office, his pro-rated cell phone service costs, and his parking fees for the duration of the hearing.

I was out to breakfast the other day and I could not help but overhear this adorable grandpa sitting alone at the table next to me. He stole my heart from jump, due to his US Veteran hat and many pins he had on it. He was having a very, very hard time hearing the waitress and she was repeating the menu choices louder and louder to no avail. She asked if he could show her. He literally picked up the menu and had it just a couple of inches from his face, nearly touching his nose. The waitress, almost in anger ..yelled ....a bit in surprise, "And you DROVE here?!!!!"
That is how I take Cheney Mason, if you cannot hear, cannot focus, cannot recall what the judge just said, perhaps it is time to turn in your keys.
I believe he should be sanctioned too; because, he literally let us know HE believes that NO WHERE in the rules does it provide for the State to get a "script" of what his experts will opine. So, under his wise tutalege, Jose thought he was on safe ground thumbing his nose at the details of the judge's order. I blame him too, his name is on the documents. I do not know why they both were not sanctioned. Mr. Ashton made a reference to the idea that if there is shared responsiblility then there should be shared penalties. I concur, wholeheartedly, regardless of who sits in what chair, the fact of the matter is Mason is LEAD ATTORNEY, just by the sheer fact that Jose is not DP qualified. The judge often tells Jose to defer to Mr. Mason's wise counsel. He knew better than to submit those ridiculous responses. I hold him absolutely as responsible for them as Jose! Why did he get a pass?

Thank you TWA, I was flailing around, trying to think of a nice way to say this. Much, much earlier on in this case I wondered, in one of my posts, if CM was ill. Because of my own age I am allowed to, without prejudice, notice and comment on the debilitating effects that plague us. Either CM is very ill or his ego has outlived his capabilities. He has demonstrated, on many occasions, that he cannot keep up in court nor with the media.

I only post here on WS, so my opinions and posts are of small import but CM is lead death-penalty qualified attorney for a case of national concern. His every word is important. . . and he's not up to the challenge. He is either ill, hanging on because of his huge ego or has just plain been "Peter principled." In any case, he is an embarrassment to people who are trying to stay active and age gracefully. And worse, yet, a hinderance to progressing towards justice for Caylee.

Thank you for your most perceptive post!

:floorlaugh: PRICELESS! :floorlaugh:

I have a feeling Baez will pay in spades, in such a way that he'd never imagined would ever happen to him.

Quick - fax that to Jeff Ashton right now!!! And put some kind of a number at the top. Those legal types like that - makes it official.

Wasn't it blatantly childish for JB to mention his "$3 per hour"? If he acts this way in front of a jury, wonder what they will think of him? Same thing we think of him? :loser:

He has done that once or twice before----he was the only one who laughed then as well....

I'm re-watching as Ashton presents his sanctions argument. JB is making faces, tilting his head, very punkishly.

Sure smacked the smug off his face. I don't expect we'll be seeing him around much longer. MC isn't going to let this clown destroy a 40y reputation IMO.
What an amazing start to the new year!!

THis is what will happen MOO....Mason call for a 2 month or 3 month continual due to the fact that Baez is no longer on the case, and he has to get another attorney who has to get up to speed on the case.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's defense attorneys will be in court again on Wednesday, one day after her attorneys were ordered to pay nearly $600 in sanctions for failure to comply with a court order.

Judge Belvin Perry ordered Anthony's defense to pay the sanctions in a Monday hearing, saying the attorneys failed to provide the prosecution with details regarding defense witnesses by a court ordered deadline in December.

The prosecution said the cost to pursue the motion for sanctions was $583.73. The defense team can appeal the amount.

I wonder how fast Baez will get those reports in..but first, I'm betting he will appeal that sanction amount...JMHO
