State wants answers from Baez

OMG OMG I am so excited!! But kicking myself I didn't get that DVR yet.

That's a really good question. I wonder if CM has come to the end of his patience with Baez. I'd think that Baez's describing CM as being 'equally confused if not moreso' (not exact quote) than himself in the email to Judge P's assistant could not have been pleasant to learn of, then have repeated across the media for days. I think CM was chagrined when the initial sanctions were called for and then ordered. Perhaps CM will no longer be sitting back in his chair and staring into space while Baez runs wild (lol) in the courtroom.

I suppose there is the possibility that CM is somewhat complicit in these tactics and drafting of motions. But somehow, I think not.

Does anyone think CM will soon wrest control of the case before Baez drives himself and their case into a wall?

I keep thinking back to the last hearing when jb was talking about taphenony (sp?) expert and HHJP inquired as to what it was and jb smiled that stupid grin and was about to go into great detail (as if he was an expert in all things)--and HHJP shut him down and basically got him back on topic---I swear HHJP is always trying to get him on topic---you can always tell you are in for it when jb stares up at the ceiling ........

You know I also remember a few motions that jb & crew filed with newsstations BEFORE anyone else.....

Wasn't Mr. William the one who got stuck in traffic the last go around of missed motion filing on time?????

OMG! Baez is really falling off the deep end...

Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, is firing back at prosecutors' motion suggesting that he be held in contempt of court.

In his own motion to strike the request, Baez accuses prosecutor Jeff Ashton of asking the court to require the defense "filings that are not required by any rule, case law or statute in order to assist him in the preparation of his case."

Ashton claimed that Baez missed a court ordered-deadline to inform the state of objections he plans to raise in hearings this week.

In his motion, Baez said Ashton "does not want to do the work required."

Is this man serious. JA does not want to do the work required?? Is Baez speaking of himself??? :loser:

This might become quite contentious...JMHO

WKMG’s Tony Pipitone said Chief Judge Belvin Perry will start Wednesday morning by asking defense attorney Jose Baez why he should not be held in contempt of court for missing a court-ordered deadline. (The hearing starts at 9 a.m., and Anthony will be there.)

WFTV-Channel 9’s Kathi Belich described how Baez will defend himself on the contempt-of-court allegation. “He’s blaming the prosecutor for playing games, blaming Chief Judge Belvin Perry for allowing it and even blaming the judge for not responding to his requests,” Belich said.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer was withering in criticizing Baez’s implication that Perry was impeding Baez’s work on the Anthony case. “That’s probably the most obnoxious of the allegations is that somehow Judge Perry has become a puppet of the state,” Sheaffer said.

WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing explained that Baez, in a new motion, accused prosecutor Jeff Ashton “of intentionally forcing him to divert time from defending Anthony’s life to defending himself.”

MM posted some more docs in the motions thread. This one caught my attention - first time I'm hearing about this http://www.docstoc.com/docs/72634895/20110228-Sworn-Affidavit---William-Slabaugh
This is a sworn affidavit from a person in JB's office saying they didn't receive a copy of the state's motion.
If JB's office did not receive a copy of the Motion for Rule to Show Cause does it become invalid?

AHEM...An Affidavit from the same lawyer who was THWARTED by traffic and couldn't get to the courthouse by 5pm closing, he arrived a few minutes after closing, to submit a filing that by Court Order was due at 12 Noon...

How are you feeling today? Any fever yet?

Is Strawberry sick, too? Come join me on the sofa, where I'll have the volume turned way up to hear the TV over my cough that developed overnight. No fever here yet & hopefully none to come.

I wish I could figure out my DVR too, LOL.:innocent:

Pipitone predicted the hearings, which continue Thursday, could spill into Friday.

Pipitone also reported that a contempt-of-court issue against Baez — for failing to meet a court-ordered deadline — maybe be worked out before a hearing is necessary. Pipitone said the state and defense are trying to work out the disagreement by exchanging paperwork on the matter.

Jose Baez Blames Others In Motion Addressing Allegations

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- WFTV has learned how Casey Anthony's lead attorney, Jose Baez, is going to try to defend himself against a civil contempt of court allegation. It seems Baez is blaming other people for his problems.

Baez is blaming the prosecutor for playing games, and blaming Chief Judge Belvin Perry for allowing it. Baez even blamed the judge for not responding to his request.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer says the blame game is not going to fly with the judge.

Baez faces possible jail time or fines if the judge finds him in contempt of court for missing yet another court-ordered deadline. Judge Perry ordered Baez to defend himself, but Baez has gone on the attack.

"It's, 'I'm not at fault because, judge, it's your fault and it's the prosecutors' fault together and separately,'" Sheaffer told WFTV (watch raw interview).

Yes I am!! Turn the volume up! Then I can hear over my sneezes!

Well, right now, I have to buy myself a new chair. Seems that I have picked up Judge Perry's habit of rocking... except mine is a little more violent since the arm on the left side of the chair is dangling right now. I am going to have to bring in a dining room chair for the hearings tomorrow and Thursday. I am 100% serious! :floorlaugh:

Oh man :floorlaugh: Make sure to DUCT TAPE the arms of your new chair,:D
