Was a long day on here yesterday- did I miss where the gas cans were found in Casey's car, or is someone speculating? SS

I am definitely speculating (don't know about others!). If LE removed gas cans yesterday and they are the same gas cans stolen from the shed...it would only stand to reason that in order to "return" to George's shed...they would have come back with the car and George placed them there. Right?

While "Touch DNA" testing was used recently in the JBR case, I don't think we are going to see it used as a standard tool for the FBI, OPD, or other local PDs. Unless there is a specific reason, the cost and time to do this would prohibit it being used on general items anyway.

LE needs DNA to test the stain in the car. However they get it doesn't matter as long as they get it!

We also keep gas to run the generators when there is no electricity!

I live here too. Most people fill their cans when a 'cane has formed. Maybe I'll drive by after work and just ask 'em. I have taken my neighbors gas if in a bind. He does not mind because I fill em back up. That is not this case though. The lock (Or hasp) was broken.

plus the news has reported the car was abandoned with the carseat. I think George and Cindy must have left it in the car and thats how police and media know.
I dont think they would not have told media or police on their own that Casey abandoned the carseat too.

Abandoning the car---and the car seat. That was on June 27th. The car is towed on the 30th. How was she going to explain this to her parents? She knew it would eventually get towed or stolen. If she had been in touch everyday with Cindy (as Cindy claimed) wouldn't she have at least mentioned it to her mother. Imagine that voice mail or text-"Oh by the way Mom, the car is lost, stolen (insert absurd delusional story here) and I have no wheels. Oh and I can't find Caylee either. Have a nice day."

They can easily get Caylee's DNA and would not have to resort to such measures. (They would have already obtained her DNA for testing against the stain in the car instead of waiting until now, imo.)

In determining if the gas cans were ever in the trunk of Casey's car through soil comparison wouldn't this actually offer support to explain the presence of yard soil from the backyard matched to soil in the pontiac trunk i.e., explain away dirt as it came from the gas cans and not something more sinister like off of decomp. Part of a potential defense strategy? We need the DNA.

I mean to say, if it's made known by the Anthony family that Casey has obtained gas from the shed for use in her car in the past and they testify to such, wouldn't this explain away dirt from the backyard being found in the trunk. I just don't think I'm being very clear.

Gas could be used for the lawnmower too! Lots of reasons to have extra gas. George could have a motorcycle for all we know.

Hurricane season begins June 1 and these gas cans could be sitting there from a year ago too!

but why would Casey always be hauling the cans off, if it was just to fill her car? She would pour the gas into her car, put the cans back in the shed and be on her merry way, no?

Welcome to WS, RN. It would, however, they would have to prove that Casey took the cans instead of simply putting the gasoline in the car. They never said she took the cans only the gasoline in the past.

There is no information that the cans were ever in Casey's car or that she is the one that took them. It could have been any number of people, a neighbor, someone who knew they were there from mowing their lawn for them, a friend of Lee or Casey's or another relative who brought the cans back later, full and said I'm sorry, I didn't think you'd mind as long as I brought them back, etc. .......or perhaps one of the two Martinez's who are listed at the same phone number as the Anthony's!

Anthony's father said he's solved the mystery break-in at his home.

The break-in happened around the same time Casey Anthony borrowed a shovel from a neighbor and the last time the girl's voice was heard.

"Someone had broken a lock and gas cans were taken," George Anthony said. "Gas cans with gas, probably in the neighborhood of $50 -- right around in there. I did find out who did it and they came back to me and that was the extent of it."

True... but how could anyone not think they'd be upset that something from a LOCKED shed was taken????

If the gas cans were in the shed, they would be sitting on some sort of concrete slab. Sheds normally in Florida have to be attached to something so they don't lift up and take off in a hurricane.

The only way dirt from the gas cans could be transferred inside the trunk is if they were set down on soil after removing them from the shed. If I recall, the sheds located at the back of the house, there is gravel or stone in that area.

I don't think it is anything out of the norm for George to keep gasoline and don't think we have to go through every reason for him to have it. What possible difference does it make?

It is the timing of the burglary that is important and the fact gasoline in 2 cans were removed from the shed and taken to another location. It will become very important if those particular cans ended up back in the shed.

Interesting if it was the gas cans that were retrieved from the shed. If George had possesion of the cans he either tried to explain it away as the person stole them confessed and brought them back or he found them in the trunk and lied. The testing may not be about Casey's prints or dna but merely to see if the person who's claiming stole them in fact did. If their prints are not on that can, then the assumption could be made that George got the cans back via the car. Which in turns would prove Casey did in fact steal the gas cans....KWIM?

Read that and wonder "who" came back and told him and did this person bring the gas cans back? Mystery is not solved yet!
