Could the grandparents and friends organize a search of nearby fields and water areas? They could. But with what excuse? Why that field and that water area? Why not the one on the other street? What I mean they had no lead to do this or do that. But the grandparents at that moment were still believing or hoping that their daughter was telling the truth about the nanny? The only reason they had to start looking close to their home was when they found out that no nanny existed, no valid information of the child's whereabouts existed, so if they had to start from somewhere they were going to start from the nearby fields and rivers/lakes. And this is what the police is doing right now actually. Since they have no valid information from Casey they are cheacking nearby areas just in case.

I *think* if it was me in this situation I would have begged the public for help and contacted the groups that manage this type of thing and said I don't have any evidence of where to look but I can't just sit here waiting, lets grid search from my house outward. The people who chose to come would be volunteers with accurate info and the people who thought it was ridiculous wouldn't have to show up. I can't imagine just waiting. It is not an illogical starting point either considering Casey and Caylee lived there and it is the last place seen. I would probably suggest the Sawhill apts as the second choice since Casey claims she left her there.

I could be mistaken but didn't LE conduct an investigation at the Sawhll apartments? What would you have searchers do there? Pull up carpeting? Tear down walls?

LE was conducting a diving exercise and decided to search a body of water near the Anthony home. It was not, from what they say, based on any specific information. It was a matter of "we're going to do it anyway, might as well do it there".

EDIT TO ADD: I think any "group" you might contact would tell you that could not waste resources conduction random searches. There has to be something to go on.

Just heard on Fox Cindy talking about Caylee's birthday tomorrow. "it will be hard on the family, but even harder on Casey". "She (Casey) spent her vist last Sunday' with her dad crying about Caylee". "She hoped Caylee would be home for her birthday and that she (Casey) would be home to."

~Sorry if this is a repeat.
You see, I knew this would be more about Casey, than Caylee. I had a feeling that's what Cindy really meant. That's why I thought she might bail her out today, especially when we were discussing the visitor's log yesterday.

Yes, I will watch NG. Yes, I will be disgusted. Yes, she puts a "Breaking News" banner up that is 2-day old information. Yes, I will watch. :(

I obviously didn't mean inside a unit. I doubt the building owners would appreciate that and if there was cause for the the police would do it with a search warrant. I meant a search of the outdoor area and neighborhood. The question was where would you start in this case, at home and at the place she said she dropped her.

Heh....bet some people are squirming after seeing those cars come up. I wonder how many insurance companies paid out on those cars :p

Has anyone heard why LE quit making phone calls and visits public? (Because I'd love to see Casey crying about Caylee...might change my impression of her.)

I'm wondering if it's because they made a deal with the Anthonys: The Anthonys cooperate more if their visits/calls aren't released and if LE will state publicly that they are being cooperative.

Ditto! Isn't that what they seem to do a lot of times in a missing persons/possible homicide investigation? I thought they organized search teams for Laci Peterson and Stacy Peterson. Hell they still have teams going out every weekend searching for Stacy. I know it's hard to search without good leads about where to search, but still...I think I'd be doing it anyway.

I guess if they really are holding so true to this kidnapper theory (the family) then they are relying on someone else to deliver her to them, or get caught with her and turned in so that's their excuse for why they aren't out pounding the pavement.

Is anyone going to watch Nancy Grace tonight? I have stopped bacause the information lately seems to be things we've already discussed a day or two before. The headline on her website for tonight's show says "Results of DNA Tests?". I'm guessing this is just a sensationalized headline since the "?" is included in the title. I'm sure other news outlets would have reported results today if they were available. I sometimes watch when she has friends or the family on, but there is no mention of that listed for tonight.

Sorry for OT, don't forget the opening ceremonies for the Olympics are tonight.

I don't get what is so magical about a birthday? Why does the family think some dangerous kidnapper would bring a child home for such a thing? If the motive is hoping that Casey will have some big change of heart and tell everything, they're probably going to be very disappointed. I think all the birthday talk and planning a party is so inappropriate and it's just awful to use in what they're trying to do. Whatever that is. This is the most bizarre thing I've ever followed in the news.

They will protect Casey til their dying breath. Searching for tiny Caylee would be a betrayal of their darling daughter. And, I bet if there was an organized search in woods, water, etc., they'd b@*ch and moan about it!

When they say "search for our grandbaby" they mean track down people who are figments of their daughters imagination. spit!

If there is crying being done it's about herselfnot sweet little Caylee whose birthday is tomorrow. How she can't it any longer, how it's so bad in there, their so mean to her, poor poor pitiful Casey! It's her world we just live in it.

ITA. It's not like a 3 yr. old will KNOW it's her birthday. The kidnappers won't care it it's her birthday. The parent can't celebrate it. What's the point. They should hang out a yellow ribbon at best. It's deflection, IMO.

You do bring up a valid point. They do go out and do grid searches from the last place a missing person was last seen. This would be either the nursing center or their home. They do have a starting point to search. There are many searches that have taken place without specific leads or tips to direct them.

I thought that it was a matter of public record? Can't the news organizations still ask for those and be granted permission to have them?

If it is the one NG just played, it was worth nothing. Casey asked brother to get lawyer to call her

Ok. Thanks. I just missed it and was following up.

I had just switched over to the NG show and missed it. I haven't been able to find a link for the new call on any of the regular Orlando news sites yet.

Somebody needs to tell the NG show that Caylee has been missing for 54 days - pushing almost 8 weeks - they're still saying 6 weeks - they need to learn how to add.
