Where is the link on LE saying they do not have anything that tells them Caylee is dead? This is the whole case wrapped into the missing issue. If they came out and made that exact statement, why are we still discussing the long awaited results of the DNA, thats still not completed? That's a liability. How could they even make such an exposing statement? Yes, this is still a missing case as we don't know where she is.

From Thursday, Aug 14:

According to Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla, "Right now we have nothing that can say that this child is not alive."

No I would not. I would have been at the police station the minute I couldn't fine Caylee or the sitter. I would have told the complete truth from the very beginning.

I don't know what Casey's deal is.

She was dazed and confused by her life style and social choices. Casey is a coward plain and simple.

Thank you and one cannot ignore your empathy to the case. This is ugly, but have we ever seen or read about a case of a missing let alone an Innocent child that does not make us curl up and cringe.

I know, cases like this are so horrible for the kids. I just can't wrap my mind around mothers that kill their children.

I go back and forth as to her being alive or dead. It is hard because I want so bad for her to be found alive. But everything seems to point to her being dead.

Thank you for taking your time and providing this link, its appreciated but the actual reason being, is the evidence and findings are not yet ready to be released. LE will treat this as a missing until they obtain all evidence stating other wise. Were no further ahead. I'm sure your head like mine, is still in a whirl.

I think we all wanted at some point to give the benefit of doubt. For me it ended with Casey's proven lies, fraud and the unbelievable indifferent act of not telling anyone Caylee was even gone, no one. Heart breaking.

I think they've got proof that somebody was dead in Casey's car but not proof that that somebody was Caylee. Perhaps the DNA isn't back yet. I bet they're pretty suspicious that it is Caylee, though, seeing as how she's missing and there's no evidence she's been kidnapped.

They have some of the evidence but not all since the FBI lab is also involved in running tests. I will agree with what your saying for the better part though. Soon we shall all know what it is that they hold, until then were waiting on baited breath.

That's what eats my lunch and keeps me glued to this computer and the news! I waiver so much on my feelings about this case. It's so convoluted it's hard to stand firm anywhere. I just want an 80's "Baby Jessica" moment sooooo much!

I am still thinking the best of the Anthony family but I have totally given up on kind thoughts about Casey. It really hurts to say that, I hate giving up on anybody but I have given up on her...as far as doing the right thing.

I beg the heavens to make me get on my knees and apologize to her if I've wronged in my feelings. I truly do. I just can't imagine any right reason to put your child and your mother through this charade (sp?) if Caylee is out there somewhere Casey has a clue about. I just can't reason that out.

you too, Checkda :)

Did you ever see the specials on the Amy Bradley story? A con man had them convinced she was held in a compound... he even hired men who were watching it believing in the con...

I can't shake the feeling that G&C could possibly be like those men hired by the conman..

She could even have them fixated on a location where innocent people are.

Deputy Carlos Padilla said they are still actively searching for Caylee and treating this as a missing person’s case. But their frustration grows with each day.

Caylee On Cover Of 'People'
The Orange County Sheriff's Office is making national headlines for its investigation into the disappearance of Caylee Anthony.

Carlos Padilla, with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, said Casey Anthony is the last person to have had contact with Caylee, but she refuses to sit down with law enforcement.

"We truly believe she has info that could help us find her little daughter," Padilla said.

Padilla sat down with People magazine for this week's cover story, which will be released Friday.
"I honestly can say we've had other cases that made the national media, (but) I don't recall anything more than this. (It's) something that's been phenomenal, unbelievable," Padilla told News 13.

The national attention in this case means investigators have a lot of interviews to watch. Padilla said investigators are watching those interviews as a way to connect the dots and get a picture of what happened.

"Keep in mind, we have a whole unit and also have civilian personnel taking down tips and turning them over to police," Padilla said.

In the article, Padilla said there is no evidence to prove the toddler is dead.

Question?
If Padilla's people either find Caylee or get a confession, does that make them eligible for the reward money?

  • #316
I would think they would be eligible for the reward if they find Caylee alive.

Florida Grand Jury Info
I am posting as I have been wondering about this, taken from FLA GJ Handbook -
The honorable Chief Justice Harlan Fisk Stone, author

snip-
At least two terms of court are held each year and once the grand jury is empaneled, it will serve for the balance of the term of court. In exceptional cases, its term may be extended. (The statewide grand jury's term is for a period of 12 months, but may be extended for up to 18 months.) The grand jury will not be in continuous session but will be called in from time to time as necessary
snip-

Sooo- they are sitting but have the availability to be convened if necessary- my money says they would have to use sitting to keep it quiet, I believe they can use sworn statements as opposed to testimony based on the fact they would be probable witnesses and only LE would need to testify in person.. Could be why JG, AH and some others have not spoken, and why LE had JG change his statement from the bond hearing? If they sought an indictment they would get it, if they have not, imo, they dont need it.

I posted this on the bail thread but thought it also relevant here, I had not seen the FLA rules on this anywhere on here before, apologize if already posted and I missed it

I just found this...Who's Mike?
The jail visitor mentions a Mike Walker....

"Lee said he doesn't have Tony's phone number," Kristina said.

"Yes, he does," Casey Anthony said. "He has Tony's number in his phone. He needs to stop (expletive) lying. He just told me a second ago that he'd give me the number."

"So, if I go and get you Tony's number, are you going to finish talking to me?" Kristina said.

"I will call you tomorrow," Casey Anthony said. "I want to talk to him really quick. I wanted to actually try and call Mike. I haven't slept in four days. I have not slept in four days.

Does any one remember on what date Casey had the jail house visitor in the baseball cap.

I believe Padilla contacted Baez...or that's how I interpreted it.

I can't follow why this matters so much to so many posters. Who contacted who is about the most irrelevant thing about this Casey being bailed issue. Lawyers know people. And lawyers know lawyers who know people. And lawyers handling cases with this much media attention are contacted by all sorts of people.

I don't know who contacted who, or how these connections between Baez and the Padillas were made, but I can guarantee that the answers to these questions don't matter one tiny hoot.
