Is everyone forgetting that in a Capital case that a grand jury is seated and they are the ones who hand down an indictment?

Is that Florida law because I think each State is different.

But wasn't there someone in LE at the bond hearing that stated the smell was that of decomp? Or am I wrong on that?

lead detective (formerl homicide detective) identified that smell as decomposition. cindy identified the smell as a damned dead body.....ooops, i mean maggoty pizza. george had to roll the windows down in the car becuase it stunk so bad. a cadaver doggie hit on the car. i'm sure the tow truck driver will be a witness, and who ever drove the car out to george when he picked it up.

For what it's worth....Shep Smith, Fox News, said he'd been told PERSONALLY by OCPD that the DNA testing wasn't back. I tend to doubt most of what Shep says, though.

Does anyone still on here this late know if Casey will be able to get on online and drink alcohol if she is released?

The replay of NG is the only one I can watch with my work hours, and it is stating that she cannot drink or go to clubs while bonded out. It also states with "breaking news" that she could get out as early as 8:30. Forgive me if this was shown earlier..as I said, I can only watch this late airing of NG.

It's tough but not impossible. IMO, the fact LE isn't searching would not be indicative of whether Caylee is alive or not. In this case, given the time laps in reporting her missing and apparent lack of any witnesses, LE simply has no starting place. They are limited to maybe the Sawgrass dumpsters or Amscot parking lot, etc. Even phone pings and credit card receipts aren't going to be much help. 31 days worth would look like an obnoxious spiderweb on a graph.

I know, right. With LE flying under the radar right now, it's easy for any of us to take that in an abundance of ways.

Thanks, SuziQ, for the confirmation on the text messaging. That makes me feel much better.

I'm another Newbie. Would someone please tell me if I hit Quote to reply to someone if I just enter the text on the first blank line? Sorry to ask such a basic question, but 'tis late. TIA!!

Hi there-
As far as I've seen, most people reply under the text, but it's up to you. It you reply under it, it kindof creates a context for your reply.
Welcome!

:woohoo:

I couldn't resist writing that.

After all this time..with the heat...if Caylee is gone...I am afraid her tiny body wouldn't have lasted long to find her. I don't mean to sound morbid, just I can't get that thought out of my head.

I understand that and agree completely. But the media coverage on this is so huge, its gotta be tough for LE to do any physical foot searches without them knowing and following, wouldn't it?

There have been searches mentioned only briefly in the news. They are searching secretly. If it was in a wooded area (there are TONS of them around here) it wouldn't be so obvious.

I don't know if they could possibly have a deal with the media to shut up (lol I know fat chance). I know I've heard it mentioned and I've seen some suspicious police activity in certain locations around here.

When you use the quote button, you will see the post quoted. Before and after the existing quote you will see the words "quote". Don't type between those quote words. They are what makes the quote
You can type either above or below the original post.

Is that Florida law because I think each State is different.

IIRC, that info was pulled up by Nurse, Blink and some others specifically for Florida. And I do definitely remember that they have a seated grand jury in Florida. I wish I could point you to a link, but at 1:21am I can't. lol.

Even if it's not a state law, the standard practice for most D.A.'s is to use a grand jury because that's the chance a D.A. gets to cross the t's and dot his i's, and have a practice trial, resulting in a higher conviction rate when it goes to trial. Many defense attorney's hate grand jury's. They say it gives the prosecution an unfair advantage.

Ohhh Do Tell! Where were they? I always LOVE hearing from the locals.

I know it's so sad, I could cry. I heard a detective say in hot climates like FL decomp starts within 24 hours. I'm sure if she did die her remains were skeletal within just days. :(:furious::(

Since were on that topic. Wasn't FHP going to get the DNA from that accident and test it for paternity? And didn't the family hire an atty - IIRC he was on one of the talking heads shows awhile back. Wonder what came of all that? Paternity tests don't take any time at all.

Who is FHP and how was he going to get access to DNA from an accident that happened over a year ago?

Sorry but that is not making any sense.
