Caylee Anthony General Discussion Thread #77

aprilshowers, I read your story--thank you for being so open in sharing it. Do you mind me asking if your mom was relatively young when you were born? I have a few friends who have much less of an age gap between themselves and their parents than I do and I find that they have fewer boundaries in their relationships. There are some positive aspects to that but I also see negative ones as well (w/ some parallels to what you are describing) although I would not go as far as to categorize any of them as having BPD. Of course the parental dynamic you're describing can occurr regardless of age, but I wonder if it is more common w/ a closer age gap between parent and child than is the average.

Not April of course, but my mother was severly BPD (with a nice mix of booze and enough prescription meds to kill an elephant just to keep things interesting). She had me when she was 16, had her own horrific upbringing. She had no boundaries and my childhood was a nightmare. I stopped speaking to her in my 20's. Told her to call me when she went to rehab and therapy. She died last year without ever attempting to reach me.

From therapy and support groups for children raised by moms with BPD people range on the severity of the disorder, it is amazingly difficult to treat. And they do not know if it is genetic or environmentally or a combo of the two, but borderlines tend to raise borderlines, especially among the daughters. I think what rubs so many wrong about Cindy is she has some BPD traits. You know there is something off about her affect but you can't quite place it. I would guess she is a whole nother creature behind closed doors. You can see the temper start to flare every once in awhile. And then you have Casey....

Cindy is speaking live on Fox News.
Even Cindy admitting this is Casey getting back at her for not visiting the other day. I agree with the commentary that this isn't good for Casey.

:clap::clap::clap::clap:
It was asked on the other thread when Casey's parents will stop making excuses for her. My answer is that they'll stop when they're emotionally ready to accept that their beloved granddaughter will never be coming home and that their daughter is, for all practical purposes, lost to them. That will take time, and they may never be able to do it. I can't criticize them for that.

Orlando Salinas reported that Casey may be trying to get back at her mom "at least that's what Cindy told us."

When the inmates turn down visits especially from family members, we're told the inmate is getting very angry or is feeling like they're losing the familial support. The family say they still stand behind their daughter.

Greg Garret: maybe that will force her (Casey) to reconsider....

Orlando asked Cindy why she thought the visited was cancelled. Cindy said that it might be because she didn't complete the visit the other time. Orlando said like "tit for tat" and Cindy said "it could be just that".

<snip>Not April of course, but my mother was severly BPD ....

Yes, quoting myself. It just occured to me a similarity my BPD mother shares with Casey... she refused to identify my father, even to me. Not a clue who he is. She told me it was none of my business, which seems to be Casey's take on it as well.

The Anthony family needs to refuse to see Casey and take that power away from her.

I agree -- the coddling support they've been giving Casey hasn't gotten them anywhere. Time for something different. Maybe if Casey believes she will lose her entire family forever -- that there is no one who believes or supports her -- that she just might eventually crack and give up at least a tiny morsel of truth in order to hang on to her family. Until she does, though, I wish the family would not communicate with her whatsoever.

Casey was caught off-guard the day her mom found her and she hastily made up the ridiculous story of the nanny, etc., without thinking it through. She may have been thinking all along what she could tell people happened, but she hadn't put it all together at the point Cindy surprised her...she probably thought she had more time to come up with something or maybe she just plain couldn't think of anything plausible.

That her family stands steadfastly by her and insists she's telling the truth -- in the face of so many proven lies Casey's told about this -- says to me that they are looking for ways to excuse her, as they're accustomed to doing. I have no doubt how much the GPs love Caylee and how heartbroken they are, but they need to stand steadfastly by their granddaughter, without regard to the consequences for Casey.

IMO, Casey's probably spending her time in jail trying to concoct a more realistic, plausible scenario. She and her attorney are waiting to see what the DNA testing and other evidence shows, to see whether LE has enough to charge her, and then and only then will she reveal a newly fabricated story...one she hopes will get her off the hook or at least lessen the consequences.

Should the evidence stack up against her, she might share some of the real truth in order to try to strike a deal for herself. Caylee's whereabouts and the details of her disappearance are Casey's bargaining chip. She's not gonna give that up because she may need it to help herself if/when charged. In light of that, I'm not sure any approach the parents take will be helpful, but cutting her off completely is worth a try, at least.

How many cars does this family have?

#1 - George - black Chevy (I think) SUV, remember him driving off last week?
#2 - Cindy - black Toyota (I think) SUV, in garage when Geo drove off last week?
#3 - Casey - white 98 Grand Prix

Which car had the smell of decomp and was abandoned? the Grand Prix

Wouldn't they have 3 car seats? No kids, so I have no clue

The scheduling starts on Sunday and you're only allowed 3 visits a week. So this would be the first visit. They only have 2 more so we'll see if those get cancelled to. Cindy also says that she still believes Caylee is out there. George is supposed to be driving something all over orlando tomorrow but Fox's Sat feed cut off the beginning of it so I don't know what that it.

Yeesh, are Casey's attorney visits logged on the visitor log the same way?

Wow! Honesty! How refreshing!!

I wonder if the visit denial will have any effect on who is paying Baez. If it were her parents, I doubt she would refuse them.

Baez is a public defender, isn't he? Per OCPD records, that is his designation

I'm sure they'll start to tack on charges if this is all they're going with...like fraud or theft.
I do remember hearing Amy was pressing charges for the stolen money.

Sherbie, I think you've hit the nail on both of these!!

Not that I know of. The last call released was with her brother and all she wanted was her lawyer.
