Caylee-Search Diver Resigned As Deputy After Lying To Captain

The guy didn't lie to GET the job... he was already a trainee & he told the Capt. a b.s. story about having served in Afghanistan & Iraq.

He was NOT fired..... he "quickly resigned."

I'm sure they check the resumes BEFORE they approve people for their trainee program, anyway.

On this one, all I can say is that he was retained as a diver. He dove.
He was retained as ex LE. He was ex-LE.
He was retained to help search for Caylee. He searched.

So, the issue is...what again?

There is a difference between criticizing and putting the information out in the newspaper.

The man was qualified to do the dive he did. If he wasn't we would have heard that too.

IMO, THAT is the only thing relevant to the dive. Period. Anything else about this man's life was not everyone's business.

He was fired. The lie didn't go unpunished. This man's "debt to society" was paid when he lost his job.

The guy volunteered his DIVING skills.

Can a person who makes a mistake EVER volunteer for a good cause????? Can only the PURE and PERFECT offer their time and abilities?

What does the unrelated incident in this diver's past take away from his heroic efforts without pay in alligator infested dirty water??????

My sentiments exactly if it is even true. Something smells here and is is not fish from that river.

The Anthony's did not make this man lie, nor did they get him fired! He was seen by his former boss on TV and it was reported to the news stations that this man was a liar!

Geeze, this is how mis-information gets spread. The next headline I expect to see is that the A's got this fine, upstanding, dedicated volunteer fired. He was fired originally for lying before there was a search for Caylee!

He could have wound up hurting the criminal case very badly if he was called to the stand and testified even if he really did find bones. His credibility would be have been ZERO when the jury found out his lying history.

His former boss had to expose him to avoid a problem if they really should find something. He lied to make himself look more "important" in the eyes of the people around him when he was hired. He is EXACTLY the type of person who might plant something to make himself look more "important".

The Anthony's did not do this!

Really, really too much micro inspection going on -- Gosh, if we looked closely enough at all the judges, we probably couldn't find even one of them who is suitable enough to hear the case.

I don't think the Anthonys did anything here - this man's wounds were self-inflicted.

On the other hand, if he actually found Caylee's remains, I don't think his lying about his military service would have negated the value in finding that poor baby's body.

I think the lying about being SF is a BIG deal. My son in law was in the Army, based at Bragg. He & my daughter have many many friends ( & they have become our s as well) who are SF. We know many who have served on both fronts. For anyone to say they are SF or even to say they are ex military is a slap in the face to the real military who leave their families & do what they need to do.

With that said, the man is an excellent diver, that was the skill that was needed. He should not have his past thrown in his face in the media.
The Antohny clan certainly has no right to call anyone a liar.

My son (my youngest...my baby) is also in the army and SF. He's already been to Iraq for a year. He reupped and will be back in Iraq in January.

Yes...the diver lied...but my son would be the first to tell me to forgive any and all for the lapses of their past.

I agree that what is important about this diver are his diving skills. He was also willing to go into murky alligator water without receiving compensation.

Since he didn't murder his child, dispose of her body like trash and then lie to everyone in the world so the child's remains wouldn't be found I refuse to make any comparison between this man and the baby killer or her mother. Sorry but that's just me.

It is not like he hid a piece of acrylic fingernail evidence...ahem...(like somebody else's forensic expert)

The man lost his job. Since when are employers able to publically release details of employee indiscretions to the media? That accomplished what? NOTHING of importance was found... The diver was not diving in an OFFICIAL capacity or representing himself THEN as anything other than a trained diver...

With a livestream going on, over 1000 viewers and all of the people on the park benches I don't think the diver had the opportunity to do anything hinky.The diver's actions were videoed and documented. There were witnesses.The chain of custody could be verified and established SHOULD Caylee's bones have been found.

What is the point of publically humiliating a diver that was diving where nobody else was ever going to go...after NOTHING was found?
