Haunting CCTV footage has emerged of a missing mum looking deep in concentration days before she mysteriously vanished without a trace.

Celeste McGain, 40, was last seen at a Woodwark home near Airlie Beach in Queensland's Whitsundays region on May 25.

Three months earlier, she relocated from northern NSW to live with her three sons aged 18-25 and was reportedly in 'good spirits' when she was last seen by loved ones.

Detectives have released vision of 40-year-old woman Celeste McGain, who was reported missing on June 1 from the Whitsundays area.

Celeste McGain (pictured) was last seen on Paluma Road in Woodwark at approximately 2pm on Saturday, May 25.

Investigators believe Celeste may have been attempting to hitchhike and are appealing for anyone who sighted a small green ‘beachy’ 4WD vehicle in the vicinity of Shute Harbour Road, Cannonvale between May 25 and June 1 to come forward.

Missing woman in ‘good spirits’ before ‘unexplained’ disappearance

Celeste Marie McGain had recently moved from northern NSW to live with her three sons in Queensland.

A woman was in “good spirits” before she vanished from her north Queensland home, having left behind her phone and bank card.

Celeste Marie McGain, 40, moved from northern NSW in February to live with her three adult sons in Woodwark, near Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays region.
About 2pm on May 25, she left their home. She has not been seen or heard from since.

“As Celeste has not had any communication with family members, that raises obvious welfare concerns because it’s out of character,” Detective Acting Sergeant Georgie Carland said on Wednesday.

“She doesn’t have her personal belongings — which include her mobile phone, bank card — that were left behind at her residence.

McGain is not believed to have driven herself from the residence because she does not own a car.
