DA Hudson: going over Maria's events on 12/14. Continual contact with her mother yet no contact after that afternoon. Says Ortega was mistaken about seeing Maria at the Christmas party. Hundreds of Marines asked if they'd seen her. Why would Maria go to the party after leaving note of desertion at Durham's house? No one saw Maria that night because she was dead. No one saw defendant that night either. Bringing on alleged rape; not on trial for rape. What matters is his motive. If the baby is born and Cesar is the father he has problems. If he had consensual sex he is faced with adultery. Defendant had plan to convince Maria to go to Mexico, go UA. Plan worked until something happened at his home. Body hidden somewhere at the home for two days, garage or outside somewhere. Paranoid about removing body from house. Cesar digs hole.........

Coverage cut out at 11:51 am. :furious:

I was floored when Hudson said that. So now we are to believe Maria's body was in his garage for two days and another witness testified to seeing all three cars there in December! Yet Christina doesn't know nuttin????????

But the most interesting thing learned this morning imo was the State didn't even test the crowbar until this year and the test results came back 19 days before the trial began.

And this DNA found wasnt in separate places on the crowbar. It was a MIXTURE found together. What are the odds of that?

Why in the world would the State wait so long for the test results? Were they afraid that Christina's DNA may be on there? That just makes no sense to me.

I would have thought that would have been one of the first things tested.

DA Hudson: who had the motive? Talking about bus ticket agent. He sold Maria a ticket to El Paso, she told him she was pregnant by someone on base, she believed he (baby father) would to Mexico to be with her. Where have we heard that plan before? Maria is not here to defend herself. What does it matter that she lied? Cesar was married, he was her boss, he had sex with her. Did Cesar stand bold as a lion on Jan. 11 or did he flee? Why would he abandon his wife & child, look what a mess he left his wife. Left her to explain a dead woman's body in their back yard. They talk about what a bad person Maria is. The coward struck a pregnant woman in the back of her head with a crowbar. Bringing up why Christina wasn't charged because they can't find any evidence she's done anything; objection. She's never been charged with the murder in this case. Look at all the evidence in this case. Going over what circumstantial evidence is comparing it to strands of a rope; all pieces put together make strong rope you can't break.

Well I think both of them had equal motives.

Well Well look who the case drug out of the wood work!!!! :woohoo: RC it is so good to see you!!! Don't y'all worry none - if we get notice that a verdict has been reached it will take me about 40 minutes to get there. Hopefully we will be given an hour or a bit more and I should make it with no problem.

Re: Young and Cooper cases - RC there is another status hearing on Thursday for jason. I'm not sure about Brad but I'll try and find out for ya.

Hello super Topsail Girl !!! Were it so easy as hiding in the wood work :D

I take it you will be headed to the courtroom if and when the jury comes back - good -we'll get the story first hand with no spin !

As to JY - honestly once he was arrested, I haven't paid much attention, just an occasional check to make sure he remains behind bars. So ready for him to stand trial. Last I heard on Brad - trial was set for October but again haven't kept as up to date as I could have. I just want the trials to start, one at a time though :D.

Very good to see you, hope all is well!

Cesar can be found guilty of first degree murder (premeditated), felony murder or both.

Cesar also charged with financial transaction card theft/fraud.

So do I. MOO

Unless they have a very analytical person on the jury, I think they will convict him based on the emotional aspects of the case. I am not sure if any of them really understands the significance that the DNA on the crowbar was a mixture and not in two different places but in the very same spot.

He is the one sitting in the defendant's chair whether he is guilty or not of the actual murder. The jury is not going to leave there without somebody paying and he is "it."

I still believe there should have been a 2nd degree murder charge included. MOO

Here we go, I wonder how long it will take for them to come to a conclusion, guilty or not guilty....

I am curious also. If they carefully deliberate the exact charges against him, it may not be as simple as some may think, except for the unauthorized use of her ATM card which is pretty much a given that he's guilty. MOO

I agree and I base my opinion on the evidence entered in the trial.

The State had no evidence that Cesar lured Maria to his home. No communication existed and they checked out all of the technology equipment from computers, emails and cell phones.

So imo Maria showed up there that day on her own. Now this was the same woman who had accused this man of raping her and had accused him as being the father of her child. So it makes logical sense imo that the unexpected visit wasnt a pretty scene. I still think due to the months and months of emotions building up it just exploded when she came there and this was a crime of passion imo and not premeditated.

No one premeditates a crime and does it inside their own home when they could have sat this up anywhere. I did agree with McNeil the burying of Maria in his own backyard shows panic and certainly not premeditation. If he or whomever had premeditated it they would have already devised a plan to throw her body somewhere else that it was unlikely to be found. Somewhere that would have no link to the perp.

Marine Wife, I think I have said Welcome to you but if not, WELCOME!!!! Not sure about a verdict but I do know this is the hardest part of any trial I have ever followed. Hearing gruesome details doesm't get to me like the gut wrenching waiting does!!! AAARRGGHHH

The details are always interesting, but the final wait for justice to prevail is very gut wrenching. Ive waited since Jan 11, 2008 to see justice brought in this case, at the time this all went down I worked as a victim advocate for Camp Lejeune, so this case is very important for me to see through till the end.

I still want to know who the real father was. I bet he is a Marine too.

Was he Hispanic too? Is he married? Is he a higher ranking Marine? Did he also have family in Mexico or perhaps El Paso,Texas?

Ugggh I hate it when so many questions go unanswered in a case.
