New harassment reports
Police reports obtained by Waccamaw Publishers state Horry County police were contacted on May 2 regarding a harassment complaint at Dick Pond Road and Peachtree Road.
According to the report, a witness called an Horry County sheriff's deputy to say there was a sign with Sidney and Tammy Moorer's faces on it hanging from a stop sign at the intersection near a bait and tackle shop.
The witness told police that the sign also contained a photograph of the late William Caison, Tammy's father, who recently passed away. There was a red "X" over his face with hate speech written below, the report said.
According to the report, the witness said he saw a man, who was driving a white SUV that appeared to be a Cadillac Escalade, hang the sign with zip ties.
The deputy handed the sign to the responding Horry County police officer. The officer checked the area to see if other signs had been hung, but couldn't find any.
Facts of the case were reviewed with the solicitor's office and the matter was referred to Horry County Planning and Zoning for followup, a second report dated May 15 said.
According to a third report dated May 3, Moorer family members told police they recovered another sign at the intersection of S.C. 544 and Mill Pond Road. The family took down the sign and gave it to their attorney, the report said.
Two of the police reports list a Carolina Forest area man as the suspect. Waccamaw Publishers does not normally name suspects mentioned in police reports until charges are filed.
Horry County spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier said via email that there is no record of any planning or zoning violations that have been levied as of this posting.
"You have received everything we have," she said.
