NEW: Mark Geragos on the new Tyler Robinson defense filing-High-profile criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos, not connected to the case, says the state’s own decision to conduct additional forensic testing highlights an important point: the evidence tying Robinson to the killing may not be as solid as prosecutors suggest. “The fact that a secondary analysis is being ordered gives total credence to the defense that this is exculpatory,” he told Los Angeles.

"In an unsealed affidavit for a search warrant in the case of Tyler Robinson, the man charged with the murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, it was revealed that he wrote a letter addressed to his trans lover and roommate, Lance Twiggs. That read: "If you are reading this … I am likely dead, or facing a lengthy prison sentence. I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I took it."

The sick note – in which Robinson refers to roommate lover Lance Twiggs as “Luna” – was made public in full Thursday, as Robinson remains held for allegedly shooting the popular conservative media personality from a rooftop at Utah Valley University in September 2025.

“Luna, if you are reading this per my text, then I am so sorry,” the note begins, presumably referring to a text Robinson had reportedly sent Twiggs moments after the assassination, telling his partner to “drop what you are doing, look under my keyboard

The letter continues, “I left the house this morning on a mission, and set an auto text.

“I am likely dead, or facing a lengthy prison sentence. I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it.

“I don’t know if I will/have succeeded, but I had hoped to make it home to you. I wish we could have lived in a world where this did not feel necessary. I wish I could have stayed for you and lived our lives together,” Robinson wrote, according to court docs.

“I lack the words to express how much I love you, and how very much you mean to me. Please try and find joy in this life. I love you, always, -Tyler,” he concludes.

Texts between Robinson and Twiggs, 22, have shown that the capital-murder suspect had been planning the grisly killing “a bit over a week,” and offered insight into his train of thought in the moments afer the shooting – as law enforcement launched a sweeping manhunt for the perpetrator.

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, speaks at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

(NewsNation) — Defense attorneys for Tyler Robinson, the man charged with killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, are utilizing the same expert witness used by the defense team for Bryan Kohberger, who is accused of killing four University of Idaho students.

In a court filing, Robinson’s lawyers said they plan to present testimony from trial consultant Dr. Bryan Edelman at an evidentiary hearing this week tied to a defense motion seeking to ban cameras from the courtroom.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Defense witnesses in the prosecution of the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk said Friday that conjecture in the media over his guilt and depictions of him as a “monster” are making it impossible for Tyler Robinson to get a fair trial.

The pretrial testimony came as Robinson’s attorneys pressed a Utah judge to ban cameras from his case. They said live broadcasts of the proceedings are tainting potential jurors, by feeding into speculative stories based on Robinson's courtroom demeanor and alleged confessions.

Media organizations, prosecutors and Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, want the court to allow cameras. They argue transparency is the best way to guard against the misinformation and conspiracy theories that concern Robinson’s defense team.

Robinson’s parents sat behind him for Friday's hearing in a half-full courtroom. His father lowered his head and stared down at his hands while the defense played a Fox News clip in which a commentator identified as a former FBI agent opined that Robinson was a sociopath.

“It's turning outside the courtroom into like a reality TV show,” said defense witness Bryan Edelman, a social psychologist with a California-based trial consulting business. “I think it creates pressure on everybody to have cameras in here, from the jury to everyone involved."
