This is an incredible tragedy. Charlie is a great guy, inside and out, and one of the most influential people in our country among young people. Praying he survives, and prayers for his wife and two young children.

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot at an event at Utah Valley University today — marking the 46th school shooting in the United States so far this year.

Twenty-four were on college campuses and 22 were on K-12 school grounds. The incidents left 18 people dead and at least 76 other victims injured, according to CNN’s analysis of events reported by the Gun Violence Archive, Education Week and Everytown for Gun Safe

UVU confirms shooter fired from nearby building, suspect in custody​

Utah Valley University spokeswoman Ellen Treanor has confirmed to the New York Times that Charlie Kirk was struck by a gunman positioned in the Losee Center, a building approximately 200 yards from the event site.
