I'm not a medical expert, just have had a lot of friends and family in hospitals...i believe critical is the worst level officially. Per Google critical is defined based Unstable vital signs, potentially unconscious, and unfavorable recovery indicators.

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that conservative activist Charlie Kirk has died after being shot during an event in Utah.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” the president went on. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Oh Lord. I just got home and hadn’t heard about this. I don’t think I’m familiar with him, his name doesn’t ring a bell, but how terrible.

I saw Mr. Kirk in the “What’s New” section after having just signed in, put on CNN and the chyron said he’s dead.

I’ll scroll up.

What a horror. All I gather so far is he was speaking to a crowd of conservatives, I guess, was critically shot and has died.

I suppose they didn’t do a security check or something? I don’t know enough yet.

And now there is a killer on the loose on or near a college campus. I hope they already have some idea of who this person is and I hope nobody is willing to hide him or assist him.

The shooter is still at large then ?
I was confused by the photo on the older man on the ground, since that was pretty much immediately after. The assassin had a rifle with a scope (it was said), and apparently shot from a building.
Awful.
Heartfelt condolences to his wife and two children.

ABC is saying the suspect is in custody. That is ABC 7
In my opinion, it looked like the shot came from very far away. Perhaps a rooftop?

I hope LE is very close to apprehending the assassin who may have selected this event for its openness/limited security. I'm wondering how long ago the event was planned. Hopefully witnesses are calling in with tips. IF the assassin was in a building with other people maybe someone saw something.

  • Kirk was about 20 minutes into a presentation when shots were fired from a nearby building, the university told CNBC. The university has said a “single shot” was fired towards Kirk.

?
I believe the older man's apprehension was premature.

Apparently it came from one of the campus buildings around 200 yards away. Not sure if they would do a security check on the buildings around without some sort of knowledge of a threat
