Police still searching for attacker, CBS reports​

Three sources familiar with the investigation into the shooting have told CBS News, the BBC's US partner, that a search for the suspect is still ongoing.

A further two law enforcement sources said that police have not yet declared the scene safe for the public.

Utah Valley University (UVU) released a statement asking those "still on campus to secure in place until police officers can safely escort them off campus".

UVU police said they are currently going "building to building" to conduct the evacuation.

A US Marine is trained to hit a man-sized target from 500 yards away with iron sights. 200 yards perhaps with a scope, and assuming the shooter was higher up in a building shooting downward is not that difficult.

May he rest in peace and love to his family and friends. Gun violence is never the answer and it saddens me that so many victims are shot just living their lives. Not everyone needs to agree with the multitudes of issues and decisions we are faced with every day, but no one deserves to die either. Prayers to all who loved him.

That campus has to be littered with cameras. I’d be surprised if they weren’t hot on his heals.
