I agree 100%. A 200 yard shot is tough. What's amazing is the assassin escaped.
Probably was a hit job.

There is no motive in any of this. Nobody in their right mind should murder. Let alone, because of their political beliefs or disagreements in opinion.
Attempting to "understand" the motives behind a murder can be a deeply complicated process. As you are simply seeking to find relatable or excusable motivations for an act of incomprehensible violence.
Please remember that this is not just a headline or a talking point.
Charlie is a real person whose life was unjustly taken.
Charlie was a husband, a father, a son, a brother..
Could the suspect be a student, someone experienced with weapons, a hunter?Kirk was speaking at a debate hosted by TPUSA. The event at UVU had been met with divided opinions on campus. An online petition calling for university administrators to bar Kirk from appearing received nearly 1,000 signatures. The university issued a statement last week citing First Amendment rights and affirming its “commitment to free speech, intellectual inquiry, and constructive dialogue.”

Live updates: Charlie Kirk assassinated at university event in Utah
Authorities say conservative activist Charlie Kirk was killed by a single shot in a targeted attack during an outdoor event Wednesday at Utah Valley University.apnews.com
I wonder made them think this man was the suspect.I was afraid of that. I saw an older gentleman being interviewed and he was adamant that the one detained was not the shooter.
ETA and now the video of him, pants around ankles, cuffed and perp walked to the car will circle like wildfire. I guess there is nothing that can be done about that though. sigh.
I'm actually not surprised by that. If we run with the idea that the assassin is somebody who knew what they were doing, then I think we can assume that they would have given some thought to how they would escape. If the shooter is the figure seen on the roof of the Losee building, then they are on the roof of a building that is almost entirely hidden from the courtyard by other buildings. It isn't where people are going to look in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. The shooter, then, would have had time in the chaos to get down off the roof, perhaps dismantle the gun, put it in a bag and calmly walk out of the building.CNN saying that not only has the gunman not been located, but they haven't recovered the gun either.
Speculation: Some campus buildings have interconnections to other buildings & if the shooter knew the Losee Center layout, he may be able to quickly leave or hide, hopefully temporarily. It’s surprising to me that sometimes you may see cameras in university buildings to find out they aren’t operational, not pointed in a certain direction, etc. In the shooter’s favor, the mass chaos after the shooting.Investigators don’t have a suspect identified in the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and have launched a manhunt..
Law enforcement officers can be seen in video footage combing buildings, including rooftops, at the perimeter of the open-air venue...
..an apparent effort to collect evidence including possible shell casings.
Since they've already stated the location of the shooter, and have a photo of the individual on the roof....they are combing other rooftops and buildings?
Maybe the shooter moved around?
The kind of security you are describing would be highly unusual for an event on a university campus, unless it was a presidential event. On the other hand, if a university felt that there was a security risk for an event on campus, they could either deny the event or they can make sure they provide extra security to protect their students and others who attend the event. Then they would charge the speaker or whoever hosts the event for the costs of the security and the speaker/event hosts are always glad to pay these charges. It seems lax to me that the university ignored the security with so many students and the public in attendance. Also, if they had offered an indoor space to hold the event, that would have been a more secure site. There are lots of things that investigators will be wanting to review.
I wonder where exactly the shooter was when the shot was fired -- on the roof? It doesn't appear the Losee Center has roof access -- the shooter would probably need to use a ladder unless the windows are able to open. It does look like the building is set on a grade -- the part of the building closest to the area where the event was happening appears to be 3 stories, while the side of the building furthest from the area where the event was happening (closest to the parking lot) appears to be only one story.A university spokesman says the Charlie Kirk shooter fired from the Losee Center, several hundred feet away. So far, a suspect remains at large. Police officers are going building to building on campus.
