Moo...we don't know if this was a homegrown shooter or a professional assassin from another county. There is a lot of saber rattling going in world politics.
I know where my thoughts went first on hearing that CK was a friend of the president. But an assassin from another country would be unlikely to choose an event like this, they'd normally study the target and their daily life more I think. I think this was done to make a very public point, not an inferred message but a very open one.

I don't think it will be too hard for the experts in LE to find the murderer. They already know what gun and ammo he used, that he's a gun user, presumably his height and build, a psychological profile. I hope he will be found and apprehended fast and that is what I expect to happen.

I'm in London, England.

Walking my dog I overheard the following conversation between two schoolboys on their way to school, holding their phones:

- bro, but you just see the blood come pouring out of his neck
- yeah because it's like, hit an artery or something

The normalizing/sharing of the video of this assassination as 'content' is deeply disturbing.

Whatever your political views, this man was a human being and does not deserve to have his murder used for clicks.

Sorry to be an old prude, but I feel everyone should stop watching it. We don't need to watch it. The police have it. All that watching it does is encourage those clickbait seekers to keep sharing, and it's now reaching young eyes who can only be disturbed and upset by it.

Have they made any sort of official statement on that as yet?

Agreed. It's disturbing that this content is so freely available to watch these days, even if you're not looking for it, it can just appear on your timeline if someone shares/reposts it. Children absolutely should be protected from these graphic videos.

I’m definitely not going to watch the video. Once you see something like that (I’ve read the comments), you can never unsee it. MOO

So I found some pics of the losee center where the shots came from. In one pic, I noticed a ladder and it got me wondering if there are other ladders around the building that the shooter could have accessed to get to the roof.

I also noticed on a map that the losee center is built into an embankment. Notice the two cars parked on the bottom left. I wonder if it's possible the shooter accessed the roof from that vicinity. Maybe used a box truck and climbed to the top to get to the roof?

No inside access/badges needed. He just got up top from the outside.

If it had not been posted, someone would have created it using AI and posted that. Obviously the AI version wouldn't be "real" real, but it would be real enough to fool most people.

Totally with you on that. I will make sure not to watch it and will tell my teens to not watch it either. It's horrific and NOT entertainment!

This article contains a 3 second video of the noise produced by the shot - nothing graphic. Surprisingly, it's a pretty good description of the acoustic properties of a rifle shot.

In regards to him being a high value target

He may not be in the traditional sense as he holds no formal power.

But he holds tons of power with his influence. Whether we support his beliefs or not, you can’t deny he has an approach that changes minds <modsnip>

This hasn’t been discussed but I think it’s possible it was someone who felt humiliated in one of his videos.

Unfortunately my 14 year old saw it before I had a chance to warn him about it 😢

I'm getting a hunter vibe, not a tactical vibe. One shot from a bolt action into center mass from high ground is no great feat, and there's no brass to round up. I'm extremely curious to see what the caliber was.
As somebody who knows nothing about guns, I've been curious about this. So we think this is a shot that could have been made by a normally competent hunter with the sort of hunting rifle you can buy from your neighbourhood gun shop?

Very easily indeed! The initial distance was given as 200 yards but I've also seen 125 yards mentioned. Both of those amount to basically nothing spectacular. Rifles have been capable of hitting a man-sized target at those distances for well over 150 years.

MLK was killed with a regular hunting rifle. I forget the distance, though.

Edit: Stickledown range which is the longest one at Bisley in the UK has firing points out to 1,200 yards. The closest one is 800 yards! 200 yards is easy-peasy. That's the distance we need to zero "high muzzle energy" rifles (greater than 4,500j at the muzzle) on military ranges before shooting them at greater distances.

I'm doing my best to not see it.

IMO, as someone who owns and shoots guns, yes. It’s not as ‘crazy’ of a shot as many on MSM are sensationalizing it to be. It could be any marksman or hunter that has spent a decent amount of time shooting.

I think what sets this shooter apart is his ability to successfully leave the scene. But then again, Luigi Mangione left the scene as well, and was caught days later. I hope he’s caught soon. It’s scary how many on social media are jumping to conclusions. MOO

For what it's worth, I have seen it on YouTube. Maybe I'm desensitised to some things but I didn't find it as "graphic" as some reports have suggested. On the other hand I have never seen, and will not watch, beheadings or other atrocities <modsnip: Removed name calling / variation>

Indeed. We teach newbies all the time. It's not a big issue to teach someone who's never touched a rifle before to make a shot like that (hitting a person-sized target) in a couple of hours. Certainly in an afternoon at the range.

The media are constantly looking to sensationalise any event or angle they can. There are plenty of people who will happily step up and make these things out to be something amazing that only highly skilled "marksmen" can do but it's actually pretty easy.

Cant shake the feeling this was an orchestrated assassination planned by an outside nation in order to sow discord and also to serve as a warning to Trump. Putin or Netanyahu maybe. They will never find the shooter, they were a professional imo.

Nothing would surprise me not even an inside job.
