Police are offering a $1 million reward for answers about what happened to a Melbourne teenager who vanished after she was dropped off at the dentist more than two decades ago.

Cherie Westell was days away from her 16th birthday when she disappeared from Wantirna South on December 12, 2000.

The teen was dropped off at Knox Dental Group about noon and left about 12.30pm.

She called home from a public phone box at the corner of Selkirk Avenue and Wantirna Road at 1.58pm, telling a family member she was planning to catch a train home to Ringwood.

It was the last time she was seen alive.

Hope the big reward money will bring out a witness. There is also a note that a person may be immune from prosecution if they provide evidence.
Sad that it is another foster child like William and Tiahleigh, although circumstances quite different (in William and Tialheigh case a foster parent was last to see them alive).
