Chicago Police Kill 2 During Domestic Disturbance Call

  • #221
Agree. It may help. But blank bullets should work better. Especially if a perp thinks that they have actually been shot up with real ones.

The problem is perps often "do not think". Drug use is rampant, there are also plenty of crazy people and those folks don't very often don't respond to psychological intimidation.

If the perp is in full on attack mode even getting HIT several times with real bullets doesn't stop them (remember Michael Brown?).

No cop would ever agree to face armed criminals with blanks in their weapon.

Maybe that was the intention. To cause fear.
And I think the automatic response for some would be to call police when in need.
Son and father did call the police for what I assume would be to get help.

Right. And a kid would have to be pretty angry to want their own father to fear for his life. I think his father was very scared.

Why wouldn't he be?

The woman was shot while opening her door so probably she was in her doorway. There were reports of blood in the entry to the apartment.
I did see some rumblings about shell casing being found near a curb so possibly the shooter or one of the shooters was by a curb.

I read that there were photos of the casings but I haven't seen the photos. Still searching.

Why do you think that LE might have reservations about using non-lethal options when a confrontational suspect has a dangerous weapon in his hands?

I'll wait for video before taking the word of LE that there was any confrontation from the bat wielder.

Agree. Why was Ms. JONES KILLED. WHY.

OK. SHOOT THE PERP. BUT NOT THE HELPING NEIGHBOR.

IM SURE THESE OFFICERS SHOULDN'T HAVE PASS THE SHOOT OUT RANGE class. Jmo.

Because that is the worst shooting ever.

Because no innocent bystander should get shot by cops when a perp is right there while a woman is running for her life.

I just hope her 5 kids get the F out of Chicago once they are paid. Jmo.

It has been said [ see a few posts up] that she was shot as soon as she opened the door. I think the door was closed when the cop opened fire, and she opened it just in time to get hit. :rose: :candle: JMO

Chicago cops know they are under a microscope right now. I really don't think they shot at the bat wielder without any provocation.

But I also read somewhere (?) that she said "Woah, woah, woah" before being shot.

Seven rounds would go off very quickly (cops shoot fast) so I can't imagine her saying that as the shots were being fired.

Yes he was angry and father at the very least thought he needed assistance with his son.

Bottom line. If the son was off his meds and approached dad and cops with a baseball bat. Then son's family is not getting paid no more than 200k.

But the neighbors family will definitely get the max payout.

Now I'm truly mad at dad for seeing a lawyer with the hopes of getting paid while letting his son grow up in a foster home.

Plus mom is acting like she raised her baby boy. But he grew up in a foster home. Jmo.

Please stop beating us in the head about love while letting strangers raise your baby for some years. Jmo.

Now if this isn't the case then sorry for over doing it. Since I don't know the actual facts.

The terrible shooting sounds like someone shooting out of panic and fear. If they were so afraid of a kid with a bat why did they even get out of their car? Why are they even police officers? I don't understand.

One would hope not but the past few weeks have shown some fairly strange actions from some in LE.
I hope we will know soon.

Why be afraid of a bat?

Chicago cop assaulted with baseball bat, in serious condition
The officer was trying to break up a fight when the assault occurred, no suspects are in custody

The officer is in serious condition at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Sources have said that the officer's vital signs have improved since he was first hospitalized.

I agree on the "panic and fear" part.

Not so much when the cop shot the kid, IMO that could be very legitimate, but when the he hit Jones by mistake.

The articles say they were both in the foyer which implies the cop should have realized there was another person behind the target. I am assuming Jones wouldn't enter the foyer if she heard gun shots.

By the time he made it to the ground floor, his son and Jones were lying motionless in the foyer.

The officer, LeGrier said, was yelling, “no, no, no.”

It's always kill or be killed. Is that why they became police officers?

It will be interesting to see video if there is any. The father says that both were in the foyer which means that after "charging" down the steps,Quintonio must have turned and tried to enter the house.
So was this after being shot or did cops shoot knowing and seeing that Jones was in the doorway.
IMO
ETA Father says he went downstairs when police arrived and was on the third step when he heard shots so it happened quickly.

Wow, with such Keystone cops, I wonder if we should actually feel lucky that only two civilians were killed.

Should they be afraid if the bat isn't raised to strike? Maybe they need to get a grip on their emotions. IMO

Not at all. My son became one because it was his dream since he was a young kid. He always wanted to help people. He had an idealistic notion of what it was going to be like.

How do we know it wasn't?
