Deck 4 Promenade. At around 5:30 the portholes can be seen .

The ocean is reflecting in these port holes, meaning that these portholes are glassed in.

Those are interior windows you see at the beginning of the video. Watch around 5:30 of the video and you'll see the open port holes.

From the article:

"Oh my God, that's a dad that needs to have a hero. He's a hero. He jumped in to save his child. He's a hero, he's a hero, that man is a hero," said passenger Tracy Robinson-Hughes, from Charleston, South Carolina, as she took a video of the rescue.".

So, the father is a "hero" because he saved a child he should have never put in peril?! Seriously.
Dad HAD to jump in cuz Mama was going to shove him in as soon as she found out what happened anyway!

Except it was Mom's idea, to have her sit there.

I'm still shocked that both Dad and Child were rescued without injury. That's a BIG boat in a BIG ocean, and I suspect that a BIG Ship creates BIG waves, BIG churning water.

I've often said I wish each of us got a 15 second rewind -- this would be one of those. An idea that apparently seemed like a good one, until it wasn't.

Lucky saves.

Oh, I missed that part. wow. They were truly presented with a miraculous outcome. Mom could have walked off that cruise without her child and husband.

Seriously? Those "rails" are almost chest high, if not higher. Why on earth would anyone put a child up on one of those rails?! Eye roll! They deliberately try to make those ships safe. Yet, there are always those around us....

"Do not put your child on the highest rail and take a picture".

"Do not ingest Tide Pods".

On and on...the stupidity of people is quite mind boggling.
Didn't something similar happen when a grandfather put his 2 year old granddaughter up against a window to look out when there was no glass and the child plummeted to her death in dock? Doesn't any one learn from these tragedy's?

Mom was the one who was responsible for the girl going into the water. Maybe mom should have jumped in to save her?

From 5:35 in the video linked above. No way I’d even get near that, let alone allow my child to climb on it. 😳 This is probably why I’ve never been on a cruise.

So, where is the shuffle board that the parents were suppose to be playing at when the girl went overboard?
Passengers have spread incorrect information. Some just want there 15 minutes of fame.

I totally agree with you. It is a miracle that she and her father survived. I still get the feeling that they will try to sue the cruise line.

No, I dont think so. If they had been they would argue their case in the media, and to anyone who would listen. The famlily could have had a gofund me. The family showed extreme class in staying anonymous.

Well, if they had been glassed in, the girl would not have fallen overboard.

They will probably have to put metal bars, screens or something on those windows now. So no one puts their child up on the railing.

This is the feel good story of the year. Mistakes happen, bad judgements happen. In these situations you have seconds to correct a terrible situation, and Dad did. How the girl stayed afloat for 45 seconds before Dad jumped in plus the time he He took to find her is beyond logic. Dad was battling waves. This was a major miracle and an act of God

I'm very aware of that. I was only pointing out that the portholes in the photograph were not the ones where the little girl fell out. The one she fell out of was on the side of the ship straight down to the water.

Most likely they will be required to do that.

I would say they were suitably embarrassed and have laid low.

Actually, you can see the shuffleboard at the very beginning of this video.
