Child falls overboard on Disney Cruise, rescued by crew members

Most likely they will be required to do that.

Yeah, that will be a fun cruise, looking out between the bars at the view. Just like being in prison, but paying for it.

I agree with you. I've been on four cruises and hope to go on more. On my first cruise to Bermuda, I had to get up from my attempt to get a sun tan, and get a little boy and a little girl, probably ages 5 and 6 off the railing of the ship. No parents in sight. Four times I got them off the rail. The fourth time, I and my niece picked them off the railing and handed them to the first crew member we saw. I don't know where the parents were, probably in the casino or the bars. People seem to think that the ship is one big playpen and just let their children go while they do what they want to do.

@lonetraveler I am not a fan of cruises, have been on four, and that was enough for me. I prefer hiking, biking, and being far away from people on vacation. Especially other people's children.

I don't drink alcohol and I think many of the issues cruises have is from people who have been drinking too much.

Well, I've been fortunate I guess. I've not even seen problems with drunk people. No fighting, nor arguing. I've totally enjoyed my cruises except for the first time with the unattended children.

Except it was Mom's idea, to have her sit there.

I'm still shocked that both Dad and Child were rescued without injury. That's a BIG boat in a BIG ocean, and I suspect that a BIG Ship creates BIG waves, BIG churning water.

I've often said I wish each of us got a 15 second rewind -- this would be one of those. An idea that apparently seemed like a good one, until it wasn't.

Lucky saves.

Love the 15 second rewind wish!

I'm thinking that if the parents saw some of the port holes with glass probably assumed that all of them were. Trying to find something that can account for the bad decision making.
