Omg, posting about my daughter and her future Mormon in-laws reminded me of something funny that happened not to long ago. I thought I would post it and bore you all with it.

So my daughter converted to the Mormon religion last March and alot of it is still new to her and she's still learning how things go. Incidently, she's extremely pretty and the guys fall all over her. Well she moved to Provo, Ut. and started going to a new Ward. A Ward is the local chapter/church that is in each neighborhood. After being there for a few weeks, the Bishop asks her to give an inspirational talk to the congregation at next Sunday's service. She is so flattered she invited me, her fiance, his friends, her friends, her future in-laws and extended family to hear her. I asked what her topic is going to be and she says probably about her experience converting to the church. Well a couple of days before her talk she calls in a panic wanting to know how she could uninvite everyone she invited because the Bishop called and told her that the topic was on being CHASTE. In other words, she was going to have to talk about sex in front of her future in-laws. Needless to say I told her I wouldn't be able to go hear her because I would start laughing and not be able to stop! However, I would have loved to have been a fly on that wall!

Missing mans case lost in the media
~snip
Tom Spira's brother disappeared in February from West Chicago. That's just a few towns away from Bolingbrook, but chances are you've never heard of this 45-year-old business owner.

You may not have known about his love of the blues or about the gig he missed the day after his disappearance.

When Spira's office mysteriously went up in flames seven months after he went missing, it earned only brief mentions in the media.

Taxi, No kidding! My trips to Walmart are not like it is for other people.

Barngoddess, where is Bethune? My favorite little town in Co. is Glenwood Springs. I don't care much for the traffic going through it though.

I do the same thing at Walmart! In fact the other night we were at hubby's firehouse decorating for the Christmas party when I was called "twisted". I was talking to one of our very good friend's new wife. She is not a very social person so I was attempting to be kind and asking her about her interests. Blah blah blah about her nails, hair, etc. She asked what I enjoy and I told her true crime. The woman looks at me like I grew another head and called me twisted. Hey, thanks a lot. I was done being kind to her at that point. I didn't bother to mention to her that she was about the same height and weight as Stacy and I was looking at the Rubbermaid tote the guys had brought down that held ornaments...I was sort of sizing her up for it. LOL

BTW: She would have easily fit.

ETA: Is what we do really that twisted?

Pocono, I usually get a blank stare or a horrified reaction and I haven't even gone into the gory details yet!

Being a crimehag gets me into trouble at times. My daughter is one. My son is becoming one. And once I got a call from my son's teacher because of it. But hey, it can't be as bad as what morticians kids do at school...right? We should start a thread called "The hazards of Crime Sleuthing" or something like that.

Nah... well, not to use, anyways. :)

I crave knowledge and forensics became a must-read for me, a very long time (long before there was any tv shows dedicated to it). My love for forensic knowledge led me to getting into true crime cases. I have books coming out of my ears on both subjects... when I moved in with my SO, he laughed about the many books and said that if he didn't know me any better he would be afraid of me. LoL

I just upgraded my adobe photoshop software up to CS3... guess what I saw the other day on the shelf at Borders: a book on CS3 for forensic professionals. I am super curious as to what the book has to offer in the way of knowing what goes on with photography and forensics. (Now to try to explain to my SO why I want it from "Santa"...)

Thanks, Guys! Glad to be back! We lost power Monday at 6:00AM and there was simply no place to go with power until last night. All the hotels were booked solid and I had to travel two hours to my daughter's house to find heat again! We are just lucky she got her power back up when they did! (We have my whole family and a couple of friends here.)

My neighborhood looks like a war zone since we lost the majority of the huge trees and they don't expect to have power until late next week. We are now expecting a heavy snow storm to start anytime to add insult to injury. Listening to the trees crackling, then literally moaning before they came crashing down on cars, houses, and streets was terrifying. They sounded like bombs going off every 3 seconds.

It was and is a very dangerous situation. I am more than happy to be safe amd warm again. (That was the absolute coldest I have ever been in my life!)

You might say a quick prayer for those in Oklahoma who are still without power and heat. They need all they can get!

Dear Lord:

Please keep those in Oklahoma safe and warm and away from falling trees. Please give them light and warmth in their hearts until electricity is restored.

We thank you for all blessings.

I'm glad you're ok. That happened in Ohio a couple of years ago. At the beginning of the ice storm I got the bright idea of driving to a store about 15 miles away to get a kerosene heater. I was never so scared in my life! All around me was blue flashes of light, from transformers blowing and trees falling everywhere. My power came back on later the same night, but many here were without power for 2 wks. That 2 weeks covered both Christmas and New Year's.

We have a storm coming in this weekend that is supposed to be a bad one. Hope it isn't like yours.

LOL, I knew it had to be the power outage as you stopped posting here and at FS site the same day.

Glad you again have power, but above all that you and your family are safe.

OMG! I could not have imagined going out during that initial hit! You are brave! I listened to a tree crackle and crack directly over my car...I opted to leave it and take the consequences should the limbs fall on it. Luckily, I was later able to move it before damage occurred. I know what you mean about those flashes, too. We were also seeing fires as the lines dropped onto the houses.

I hope you get through your storm with no ill effects! Keep warm and if you even THINK you might be in jeopardy...call early for a hotel room reservation!! I learned my lesson!!

I was trying to put up a thread about the ice storm in Current Events when my power went out! I had warned my "buddy" here that it could happen so she could let people know if they asked.

This time, my withdrawals of being away from my computer didn't seem at all significant. I guess that whole "not wanting to freeze to death thing" was a bit more consuming! LOL I learned that layering and the rest of it they recommend isn't adequate for longterm use. Besides, it doesn't help at all when you have to shuck the layers to jump into the shower!! BRRRRR!!!
