<!--startindex-->BLUE LAKE -- Two California Highway Patrol officers were hospitalized and eight cows were killed when their car collided with the loose animals on a Humboldt County highway.

The CHP says the two officers were driving on State Route 299 in Blue Lake to check on a report of loose cows early Friday when their car ran into three black cows running across the road.

Four other collisions involving cars and cows happened around the same time, but no injuries were reported in those accidents. more at link:http://www.ktvu.com/news/4986849/detail.html
