I am not so sure I like that... only if they keep them there tomorrow... if they let them spend one night there and then take them away.... omg.
I hope they have already been thoroughly questioned....
I'm okay with it. It's not like the Coxes are going to be saying, "Guess what, you're going to be living here now." I believe they will not say much until they know for sure. Instead, I think it will be treated like a long overdue visit.
JP has kept those kids way from their mom's parents, their grandparents, for no reason. The kids and the grandparents deserve and need to have a connection. If this is nothing more than an overnight visit, it will still go a long ways toward chipping away at any attempts to alienate those boys from Susan's parents. They will spend time with the grandparents, see how loving they are, that their needs are met over there, they are cared for, etc., and that can only be a good thing. Foster care should only be used if there is absolutely no other choice, IMO.
What's the mystery behind the decision? What's so difficult? What am I missing here?
1. According to Asst AG, Josh may have known about his papa's criminal activities involving computers.
2. 15 computers have been removed from papa's home.
West Valley City police who reviewed seized videotapes and CDs, which were reportedly taken from Steven Powell’s bedroom during the Aug. 25 raid, "found thousands of images of females being videotaped without their knowledge, including Susan Powell. The photographer focuses on the women’s buttocks, breasts, and genital areas. Many images were of minor females," Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said in a statement released to The Associated Press.

3. Sons have been living with Josh and grandpa.
4. Mom went missing while dad and boys went on midnight below-zero camping trip.
Children have been removed from Mothers for much less. Give the Cox's custody. Not difficult decision. Outrageous.
It seems easy but it's not. Parental rights are constitutionally protected. They are very hard to shake. There has been no showing that the kids have been subjected to abuse or neglect or exposed to

of any kind.
There is no open criminal case against JP - no charges. His dad is not home (as far as I know at this point) and JP argues that he will find adequate housing elsewhere, if he is released.
We all know that JP is a suspect, likely a murderer and does not care for his kids, except as a shield, or a tool or as property to be owned. But the court has to tread lightly and carefully so it is not appealed. They have to have hard facts that the children were placed at risk and will continue to be placed at risk in dad's care, in order to remove them from his custody for the long term and place them in a non-parent's care.
But right now I feel the Coxes' chances are very good. The kids were in a home where there was child

and the dad is being investigated to see if he had a role in it as well. That's why the kids were taken in the first place.
Other facts that should weigh in the Coxes' favor include the fact that JP has not shown that he has the means to care for them apart from his father, that he acted bizarrely in endangering them when his wife went missing and that he is likely the number one suspect in her disappearance. The likelihood that the boys could be at grave risk as this investigation heats up should weigh in their favor as well.
Unfortunately, I didn't hear any of the other facts I listed above, stated at the hearing. But, I just read the tweets and hope there was more said. Because merely saying they think he had something to do with Susan's disappearance and that he hasn't looked for her - that's not enough. I would have highlighted his bizarre behavior, that he must have known what daddy was up to, I would have hauled in neighbors who saw him and SP at the park taking photos of other kids, I would have described his neglect of them at the vigil, his endangering behavior taking two toddlers camping during a snowstorm at midnight and how instead of concentrating on getting his kids back, he was rushing into court to get the rights to smear his missing wife's name.
I wanted to hear succinct and strong reasoning from the Coxes' attorney and the tweets did not reflect that.
But, I still have hope. The judge must know the risk the boys are in, even if she can't really say it out loud. But if she knows, she'll find a way to keep them away from their dad. Fingers crossed.
