I would have asked him nicely to remove it, then again in a more firm way, and if he still did not, I would have called over a flight attendant and asked for assistance. That way if he still didn't remove it, it would be up to the crew to deal with it, and I wouldn't have gotten into any trouble myself.

No ONE should have to ask him to remove his foot...

I would have turned around and asked for him to remove his big hoof. It may be socially unacceptable to place your shoe on someone else's arm rest, but so is starting a fight. Some people either haven't been taught or just don't know any better; two wrongs don't make a right.

I did give him benefit of the doubt then that he was just nervous and didn't know what to do. But yeah, it was oversteppage of the boundaries.

Maybe so. But he's only 27 or thereabouts. He has time for more than a few comebacks.

As for his foot on an armrest, he wears size 14 shoes. It might well be annoying.

But we don't really know what happened. It wasn't Mr. Aiken who was doing the shoving. I'm just under 6'3" and on many commercial flights, the space between seats is less than the distance between my knee and my hip. I have to put my limbs somewhere.

Yes, alot of MEN just put their huge arms and elbows on the armrest and take up at least 1/3 of my space!

I get so mad because they don't even offer me my arm rest first. They can always take the outside one! HOGS.

Frontier airlines have a little more space in their seats. It try to always fly just Frontier or Southwest. I wish I could afford first class, but I usually can't. I HATE TO FLY., but usually am glad when I get there.

Like Nova says, we don't really know what happened. These magazines twist everything around. No wonder the stars won't give interviews anymore.

I didn't really know he was gay - never really paid much attention. not my kind of singer or music.

Gay or straight, I just don't find him swoonworthy.

I've sat by a lot of rude people on airplanes who weren't famous. Like the woman who just could not sit in her seat without it leaning back on landing. Which made it really hard for all of us behind her to exit our seats.

Me too. He's just another singer to me. Now Josh Groban I really do love. I would pay to see him. I liked Neil Diamond.

I like Michael Bobleau (sp) sometimes too. Willie Nelson is one of my favorite voices; also Ray Charles. There are so many talented ones. Elton, Rod Stewart, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill. Love them all.

I'm not a "touchy feely" person by nature and I swear I do my best not to encroach on the person or space of another. But if one is of a certain size, sometimes there's no avoiding it. (This is not a defense of putting one's feet on somebody's arm rest.)

Who cares whether or not Clay is gay and besides, he has come out and said that he is NOT... The End; the subject is closed in his mind. I happen to watch American Idol and I appreciate his talent a lot. I would go and pay to see him perform. Martha, you probably know the website better than I do where you can hear the different artist's singing and it's free (?). If you like Josh G., Rod Stewart, and Neil Diamond like I do, then more than likely you'll like Clay's singing, too.

Do try to keep up. Aiken said that before pictures of him trolling for male lovers surfaced on the internet and in the tabloids. Not to mention testimony from men he had slept with. Nowadays he simply refuses to discuss the subject. Only the most die-hard Claymates persist in the fantasy that he is straight. (And that's okay, as long as they don't harass people who recognize reality. All our ideas about the personal lives of actors and singers are fantasy.)

I happen to watch American Idol and I appreciate his talent a lot.

He is indeed a phenomenal talent. I hope he figures out what he wants to do. With singing, I mean.

I agree. Nobody should have to answer that kind of a question, I hope to see the day when it isn't even asked.

As for the airplane incident, etc...... I find it sad that those little things make the news and define a celebrity, but the fact that he has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity doesn't even warrant a blip on the radar. Look at the pictures on the UNICEF website, there are very few celebrites that would do what he is doing. JMHO of course.

No doubt that invading someone's space is rude, but I am sure there are three sides to the story and only one of them is accurate.
