Me, three. Where's the harm?

eve said:I do not think it is wrong unless the taxpayers end up paying for protitutes. I see a problem with that, since they are illegal. That's why I asked who provides the hospice services.
That being said, I can see why the young man arranged it and it sounds like it was done with dignity and respect. Prostitution is among several things I'd like to see legalized.

I've been inside one of the local establishments (I picked up a book of matches to put in a buddy's car - his wife and I get along fine now.) Not really my thing, but nobody's forcing anyone to do anything and nobody's being hurt (unless they pay extra because they want it).
I've always been of the opinion that those who are unduly concerned with other people's bedrooms aren't seeing nearly enough action in their own....IrishMist said:It never fails to amaze me that people are so concerned about what others do in the bedroom.
Nova said:I understand your point about tax dollars, Eve, and technically, I suppose you are right.
But of all the ways my tax dollars are spent, this would be better than most. (I realize the incident occurred in England, so my taxes aren't at issue. Just sayin'.)

Doesn't England have socialized medicine? For sure they pay for worse things (morally speaking) like Abortions?
This young man is dying .... I know in the USA we even give criminals a last meal before a death sentence.

(I'm a bad puddy tat.)
There are some places in the United States where prostitution is LEGAL, like certain cities in Nevada---eve said:I just think if state-funded hospice providers in the U.S. started doing it, people would have a fit. Since prostitution is illegal, I think they's have an argument that the state shouldn't fund illegal activities.

Nova said:Eve is right about the state funding illegal activities. (My solution: legalize prostitution.)
But otherwise, to me this is no different than if tax dollars paid for him to go to the theater. Nobody would have a problem with that.
eve said:Nova, somebody would probably have a problem with funding trip to the theater, too.
