Dang she said the podcast hurt the investigation. It's a shame really. I get that people want info, but some things are too much too soon and when LE doesn't have a chance to do the initial leg work, it can get in the way.
I think they are blaming the wrong individuals- blaming a podcaster if the public is in the dark??
The proof is in the outcome- Did he go into hiding? No- he went to get a haircut driving the same car!!
LE can’t say the public was instrumental and yet people had tips and no place to share them?
The people who shared tips with LE- did they go to the public and did not know they were not supposed to do so? That sounds like a public information issue!
The tip line was bungled- people were being dismissed. That is on LE- not the public or a podcaster.
If LE does not provide info to the public- no presser until Day 5, someone will fill the void.
No one had any info out until six hours after the murder- even people still in the park had no info.
The Sheriff for the county should have come out and spoken to the public, that is what you do when a murderer is at large… and he isn’t caught for 1, 2, 3, 4 + days.
It is the sheriff that will be held responsible for the public being confused, feeling unsafe, feeling a lack of transparency.
So ASP can rewrite history and say they were on it all along… Nope they didn’t get to the scene for too long and did not get an alert out to the public until late Saturday night and they blamed that on it being a ‘rural location’ with rugged terrain.
The park is 45 min from Fort Smith- not two hours by wagon through mountains and snow.
It would be helpful for LE and Public Officials to remember they work For the public. So if the public is unhappy- they better figure out how to make sure they are. That is simply the way a representative democracy works.
Let’s hope the investigation leads to successful prosecution of alleged suspect and the perp who did this finds himself in a permanent cage.
And- if this guy has a history of predation- which is my guess he does as a perv late twenties.
Someone missed the boat- why was he ever hired at a school?
IMO
